* June 25 – Prince releases his sixth album Purple Rain ; the album sells over twenty million copies and gives Prince two US number one singles with " When Doves Cry " and " Let's Go Crazy ".

When school friend Paul " Guigsy " McGuigan, invited Gallagher to join his band, The Rain, as a vocalist, he agreed.

Beginning in the early 1980s, however, her chart success began to wane, though, she did continue to have top-20 hits during this period, including " Starting Over " and " He Was There ( When I Needed You )" ( both 1980 ), a cover of the Everly Brothers ' hit " Crying in the Rain " ( 1981 ), " Another Chance ", " You Still Get to Me in My Dreams " ( both 1982 ) and " A Good Night's Love " ( 1983 ).

The film is tied into the album of the same name, which spawned two chart-topping singles: " When Doves Cry " and the opening number " Let's Go Crazy ", while " Purple Rain " reached # 2.

" Her cover of the Shirley Ellis hit " The Clapping Song ," which was recorded for the film score of The Lonely Lady, reached the U. S. Top 40 in 1983, and she had a hit duet with Jermaine Jackson titled " When the Rain Begins to Fall " in 1984 from the movie Voyage of the Rock Aliens.

Taylor also contributed to the Miami Vice II soundtrack with the song " When The Rain Comes Down " ( US No. 43 ).

When they started to play " November Rain ", a soft rain fell over the city and stopped right after they finished the song.

In mid-2009, The Twilight Singers ' cover of " When Doves Cry " was issued on Spin magazine's download album Purpleish Rain.

When introducing the song during a live concert in Madrid ( July 28, 2009 ) Taylor publicly said that he composed " Fire and Rain " in 1968 during a stay in the Spanish island of Formentera, which he jokingly defined as a place ( then ) " full of goats and drug smugglers ".

The backwards vocals are Lennon singing the lyrics of the song: " When the sun shines ," " Rain ," and " If the rain comes, they run and hide their heads.

Art Garfunkel again performed a song for the TV soundtrack, " When You're Losing Your Way in The Rain " which was not used in the show.

Lewis's That Hideous Strength, and Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four, and which in science fiction is represented before the present deluge as early as Wells's trilogy, The Time Machine, `` A Story Of The Days To Come '', and When The Sleeper Wakes, and as recently as Jack Williamson's `` With Folded Hands '' ( 1947 ), the classic story of men replaced by their own robots.

When The Music Stops is an example of an events franchise in the UK, in this case, running speed dating and singles events.

In 1958, Buddy Holly arranged Jennings ' first recording session, of " Jolie Blon " and " When Sin Stops ( Love Begins )".

On September 10, Jennings recorded the songs " Jolie Blon " and " When Sin Stops ( Love Begins )", with Holly and Tommy Allsup on guitars with saxophonist King Curtis.
