In 1938, Inverness Shire Chief Constable William Fraser penned a letter stating that it was beyond doubt the monster existed.

Fraser ’ s writings have been praised by such literary figures as Farley Mowat, Irving Layton, Louis Dudek, Alden Nowlan, Sheila Watson, Leonard Cohen, Hugh Garner, Michael Cook and William French.

He was assistant lecturer successively to Sir William Hamilton and Alexander Campbell Fraser ( 1856 – 60 ).

In 1831 Sir William Hamilton was appointed to the chair of Logic and Metaphysics, and Fraser became his pupil.

He marticulated in 1869 at Edinburgh University, where he made a special study of classics under Professors William Young Sellar and J. S. Blackie, while he began to study philosophy under Professor Campbell Fraser, in whose class and in that of Professor Henry Calderwood ( on moral philosophy ) he gained the highest prizes.
