It was divided into two zones: one being the port city of Trieste with a narrow coastal strip to the north west ( Zone A ); the other, larger ( Zone B ) was formed by a small portion of the north-western part of the Istrian peninsula.

However, the territory never received its planned self-government and it was maintained under military occupation respecting the division into two zones as decided by the Morgan Line: Zone A, which was 222. 5 km² and had 262, 406 residents including Trieste, was administered by British and American forces, while Zone B, which was 515. 5 km² with 71, 000 residents including north-western Istria, was administered by the Yugoslav National Army.

According to the Yugoslav census of 1945, which was considered falsified by the Quadripatite Commission set up by the United Nations, in the part of Istria which was to become Zone B there were 67, 461 inhabitants, including 30, 789 Slovenes and Croats, 29, 672 Italians and 7, 000 people of unidentified nationality.

It gave former Zone A with Trieste to Italy for an ordinary civil administration, and Zone B, which had already incorporated a communist government since 1947, to Yugoslavia.

Zone A corresponds to the current Italian Province of Trieste, and Zone B is now divided between the Slovenian Littoral and Croatian Istria.

Articles VII and VIII of the Egypt-Israel GAA established a Demilitarized Zone ( DMZ ) centred on El-Auja and forbade the presence of armed forces it also prohibited Egypt from maintaining positions in an adjoining area west of the Demilitarized Zone, and limited the arms and troops in the Defensive Areas on both sides of the Line.

Kensal Green tube station ( Zone 2 ) on the Bakerloo Line is only 20 minutes from Oxford Circus and the West End.

The second Green Line of the Dubai Metro will pass at the Airport Free Zone, and will serve the airport's north-eastern area with the Terminal 2 from mid-2011.

A 600-lb ( 270 kg ) North Korean national flag flies from the world's third tallest flagpole, which is located at Kijŏng-dong, on the North Korean side of the Military Demarcation Line within the Korean Demilitarized Zone.

This compound is used in terms such as the Keiyō Line, Keiyō Road, Keiyō Rinkai Railway Rinkai Main Line, and the Keiyō Industrial Zone.

Basildon is also only two stops away from London Zone 6 ( Upminster station ) via the Fenchurch Street Line from Laindon Station ( West Basildon ).

Located in Travelcard Zone 1, the station is on the Piccadilly Line between Green Park and Leicester Square and on the Bakerloo line between Charing Cross and Oxford Circus.
