Epsilon Ursae Majoris ( Epsilon UMa, ε Ursae Majoris, ε UMa ) is the brightest star in the constellation Ursa Major ( despite its Bayer designation being merely " epsilon "), and at magnitude 1. 76 is the thirty-first brightest star in the sky.

The stars of the main asterism within a constellation are usually given Greek letters in their order of brightness, the so-called Bayer designation introduced by Johann Bayer in 1603.

For example, the " Little Dipper " asterism of the constellation Ursa Minor has ten stars with Bayer designation, α UMi to π UMi.
