Stańczyk was also one of Jan Matejko's favorite historical figures and he appears on a number of his paintings, such as in the Prussian Homage.

Matejko's vision of Stańczyk influenced the way other artists, such as Leon Wyczółkowski, later depicted the jester.

At the arrival of the French soldiers many Alsatians and even, ironically, local Prussian / German administrators and bureaucrats cheered due to the re-establishment of order ( which can be seen and is described in detail in the reference video below ).

This was called the " Prussian Homage ".

In 1525, the Order was ousted from East Prussian territory by its own Hochmeister when Albert, Duke of Prussia adopted Lutheranism and assumed the title of duke as hereditary ruler under the overlordship of Poland in the Prussian Homage.

Albert established himself as the first duke of the Duchy of Prussia and a vassal of the Polish crown by the Prussian Homage.

On April 10, 1525 Albert resigned his position, became a Protestant, and in the Prussian Homage was granted the title " Duke of Prussia " by his new feudal overlord, King Sigismund I the Old of Poland, who was also his uncle.

Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor, and Pope Clement VII objected to the Prussian Homage, which was derided as the Krakauer Kuhhandel (" Cracow horse-trading ").
