He was reportedly under Abdullah Yusuf Azzam, an important figure in the early history of al-Qaeda.

" When the people – overjoyed at the news of new young boys in the village – came to snatch them away from Lot, he tried to convince them to refrain from practising their lusts on the visitors, and offered his own daughters to them ( to marry, according to the translation of Abdullah Yusuf Ali ) in return for the boys ' free release, but they were unrelenting and replied " we have no need of your daughters: indeed you know quite well what we want!

One of those who complained of being elbowed aside was a former mentor of bin Laden Abdullah Azzam, the original exponent and organizer of global jihad on behalf of the Afghan mujahideen.

He was devoted to the lectures of Sheikh Abdullah Azzam, and took a job teaching in a madrassa in Quetta.

He made his way to Afghanistan in the mid-1980s where he contacted his former professor, Abdullah Azzam, co-founder of Maktab al-Khadamat ( MAK ) along with Osama bin Laden.

He has been credited as having convinced Abdullah Azzam to abandon his life and devote himself to preaching jihad at this time.

Others, i. e., Ayman Al-Zawahiri, Abdullah Azzam, and Osama bin Laden built terrorist organizations based on the principles of Qutbism and turned the ideology of Islamic-Fascism into a global action plan.

Azzam Pasha, the mufti and the Syrian government would sooner see the Jews get the whole of Palestine than that King Abdullah should benefit.

The analogy may have been passed on to Bin Laden by one of his teachers, Abdullah Azzam.

It was founded in 1990 by Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, Abdullah Yusuf Azzam and Zafar Iqbal in Afghanistan.

The Maktab al-Khidamat, also Maktab Khadamāt al-Mujāhidīn al -' Arab ( Arabic: مكتب الخدمات or مكتب خدمات المجاهدين العرب, MAK ), also known as the Afghan Services Bureau, was founded in 1984 by Abdullah Azzam and Osama bin Laden to raise funds and recruit foreign mujahidin for the war against the Soviets in Afghanistan.

On his fundraising tours Sheikh Abdullah Azzam visited the mosques of " Brooklyn, St. Louis, Kansas City, Seattle, Sacramento, Los Angeles, and San Diego-altogether there were 33 cities in America that opened branches of bin Laden and Azzam's organization, the Services Bureau, in order to support the jihad.

The Al Kifah Centre in Brooklyn was originally operated by Mustafa Shalabi, a close associate of MAK ’ s co-founder Abdullah Azzam.

Not long after, Anas spoke to Abdullah Azzam about the need to ensure Muslim help reached northern Afghanistan, and not just that of Western NGOs.

Abdullah Yusuf Azzam was born in 1941 in the Palestinian village of Silat al-Harithiya, about eight kilometers northwest of the city of Jenin in the West Bank, then administered under the British Mandate for Palestine, which covered the two sectors of Palestine and Transjordan.
