The northernmost point of the Island of Greenland is Cape Morris Jesup, discovered by Admiral Robert Peary in 1909.

Admiral Robert Peary of the United States Navy was aided by this breed during his expeditions in search of the North Pole.

His home in Fryeburg, Maine, still remains in pristine condition as an inn known as the Admiral Peary House.

Vice Admiral Sir John Augustine Collins KBE, CB ( 7 January 1899 – 3 September 1989 ) was a Royal Australian Navy ( RAN ) officer who served in World War I and World War II, and who eventually rose to become a Vice Admiral and Chief of Staff of the RAN.

Relations between the RAN and British Royal Navy were close at the time, with frequent exchanges of officers between the two and in June 1941, Collins was transferred to Singapore, as Assistant Chief of Staff to the British Naval Commander in Chief, China Station, Vice Admiral Geoffrey Layton.

The company captured worldwide attention when Collins supplied the equipment to establish a communications link with the South Pole expedition of Rear Admiral Richard Byrd in 1933.

Rear Admiral Napoleon Collins ( 4 March 1814 – 9 August 1875 ) served in the United States Navy during the Mexican – American War and the American Civil War.

Napoleon Collins remained active in the post-war Navy, reaching the ranks of Captain in July 1866 and Rear Admiral in August 1874.

Upon learning that de Grasse had sailed from the West Indies for North America, and that French Admiral de Barras had also sailed from Newport, Rhode Island, Admiral Graves concluded that they were going to join forces at the Chesapeake.
