There is a second official residence, Admiralty House in Sydney.

It was initially under the control of the Admiralty, and located in Watergate House, Adelphi, London.

It was known as Admiralty House when it became the official residence of the Commander-in-Chief of the British Mediterranean fleet.

The blockade of the southern US Atlantic Seaboard, as well as the sack of Washington D. C., carried out during the American War of 1812 was orchestrated from the Admiralty House in Bermuda, then located at Mount Wyndham, in Bailey's Bay.

Other prominent individuals in Britain, often connected with commercial shipping or the Admiralty, have been associated with Trinity House, including Winston Churchill, who gained his status as an Elder Brother of Trinity House as a result of his position as First Lord of the Admiralty before and during World War I.

Having taken his seat in the Irish House of Lords in 1745, he was appointed one of the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty in 1746, and was one of the ' managers ' of the impeachment of Lord Lovat.

His predecessor, John Prescott, had the use of a flat in Admiralty House and used Dorneywood as his country residence.

Offshore islands include the small, forested Admiralty Islands, the largest of which is Manus, to the north of the main island of New Guinea.

In 1939, in response to a question from the Oxford English Dictionary, the Admiralty made up the story that it stood for ' Allied Submarine Detection Investigation Committee ', and this is still widely believed, though no committee bearing this name has been found in the Admiralty archives.
