Affectional orientation -

Affectional bonding characterize those affectionate sexual relationships where neither partner is limerent ; couples tend to be in love, but do not report continuous and unwanted intrusive thinking, feeling intense need for exclusivity, or define their goals in terms of reciprocity.

It is also attributed to Randolph " Affectional Alchemy and How It Works " ( c. l870 ).

* Affectional action ( also known as emotional actions ): actions which are taken due to one's emotions, to express personal feelings.

This is an important concept amongst the asexual community where it is often referred to as romantic orientation and the term affectional orientation is rarely used.

Taking from the fact that amongst this community this is known as the romantic orientation, the prefixes of homo -, hetero -, bi -, pan -, poly -, demi-and a-have been used to form terms such as heteroromantic, biromantic and so on.

One who lacks a romantic orientation, or is incapable of feeling romantic attraction, is known as aromantic.

As a sexual orientation, heterosexuality refers to " an enduring pattern of or disposition to experience sexual, affectionate, physical or romantic attractions to persons of the opposite sex "; it also refers to " an individual ’ s sense of personal and social identity based on those attractions, behaviors expressing them, and membership in a community of others who share them ".
