In the Disney movie Aladdin, a gold Lamassu can be found in the scene where Aladdin and Abu enter the cave in the desert to find the lamp.

The films produced by the Walt Disney Animation Studios became popular once more when the studio returned to making traditionally animated musical family classics such as Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King.

A little more than a year after it was opened, the Aladdin was host to Elvis and Priscilla Presley's wedding.

Many of the tales in the One Thousand and One Nights are also love stories or involve romantic love as a central theme, including the frame story of Scheherazade, and many of the stories she narrates, such as " Aladdin ", " Ali Baba ", " The Ebony Horse " and " The Three Apples ". Her final acting work was with Ashley Paske ( who played Matt, Neighbours ) in Oxford where she played the princess in Aladdin.

As she types, her adaptation of Aladdin comes to life on the screen, with Popeye having to use his wits against an evil vizier who seeks to control a magic lamp inhabited by a powerful genie.

Dream With Music ( 1944 ), a " musical fantasy " in which a soap opera writer dreams that she is Scheherazade in old Baghdad, where her real life acquaintances turn up as Aladdin, the Sultan, etc.

In the animated version of Aladdin made by Disney, her name was changed to Jasmine and she was an Arabian princess instead.

Patience didn't discover that she had a singing voice until a night at a karaoke bar, when just as a joke, she performed " A Whole New World ", from Aladdin.

For many years she was a regular in pantomime at the Kings ' Theatre, Glasgow, starring alongside Gerard Kelly in performances such as Aladdin, Mother Goose and Sleeping Beauty.

Escaping into town, she encounters Aladdin who helps her when a she is almost punished for stealing.

During this time, Jasmine sees through Aladdin's disguise, but Aladdin convinces her that he sometimes dressed up as a commoner to " escape the pressures of palace life ", which she relates to.

When Aladdin finally returns, looking to rescue Jasmine and save the kingdom, she helps him distract Jafar by seducing him and pretending to fall madly in love with him.

In the end, she is saved by Aladdin and returns to be Princess of Agrabah, with her father, the Sultan.

In the first direct-to-video sequel, The Return of Jafar ( 1994 ), Jasmine later begins to question her choice in Aladdin, wondering if he was trustworthy enough after he defends Iago, Jafar's former pet parrot who had terrorized her father, but she quickly gets over these questions with Iago's help ( who convinces her she cares about Aladdin by calling her bluff ).

Finally, in the second direct-to-video / DVD movie, Aladdin and the King of Thieves ( 1996 ) she and Aladdin are finally about to wed, when their wedding is interrupted by the Forty Thieves.
