On November 27, 2001 Norman was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in a special ceremony held at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, along with Elvis Presley, Keith Green, Kurt Kaiser, Doris Akers, The Rambos, Wendy Bagwell and the Sunliters, and Albertina Walker.

As a member of the gospel quintet called The Sisters of Glory, which included Thelma Houston, Phoebe Snow, Lois Walden, Albertina Walker, and herself, Peniston would also record a spiritual album, Good News in Hard Times, that featured two solo traditionals (" How I Got Over " and " Precious Memories ") performed by the singer, four standards with her solo part (" Rough Side of the Mountain ", " He's Got the Whole World in His Hands ", " I Won't Be Back No More " and " Oh Happy Day "), as well as her chorus vocals on additional nine tracks.

The Caravans is a Jubilee Gospel group that was started by Albertina Walker.

The group reached its peak popularity during the 1950s and 1960s, launching the careers of a number of artists, including: Delores Washington, Albertina Walker, Bessie Griffin, Cassietta George, Dorothy Norwood, Inez Andrews, Shirley Caesar, Josephine Howard, Rev.

In 1952, Gwynn left the group, a slight change of the group's name to Robert Anderson and The Caravans was made, and Nellie Grace Daniels and Albertina Walker joined the group.

In 1967, longtime members Josephine Howard, James Herndon, and Delores Washington all left the group to pursue solo careers and form their own groups, with exception to Albertina Walker, who released a solo album in 1966 without leaving the group.

In 1976, Caravans members Albertina Walker, Cassietta George, Josephine Howard, and Delores Washington reunited to record an album for the Birthright Records label with all new material titled " Share ", featuring special guest Isaiah Jones, Jr. on piano.

Notable reunion concerts include a 1988 Stellar Awards performance with Albertina Walker, Inez Andrews, Shirley Caesar, Delores Washington and Rev.

James Cleveland, a 1994 reunion on a Dorothy Norwood album with Albertina Walker, Dorothy Norwood, Delores Washington, and Cassietta George, and a 2004 reunion for the Malaco Records " Gospel Legends " DVD with Albertina Walker, Davon Hurn, Dorothy Norwood, Inez Andrews, Shirley Caesar, and Delores Washington.

Albertina Walker died from respiratory failure on 8 October 2010.

Nespolo graduated at the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti of Turin with Enrico Paulucci and obtained a degree in Modern Literature at the University of Turin, with a thesis on Semiology.

It fell upon Albertina, as the eldest girl, to take on a motherly role for her younger siblings.

She adopted the name Albertina when she started her schooling at a Presbyterian mission school in Xolobe.

Albertina started school in a local primary school in Xolobe that was run by Presbyterian missionaries and it is here that she had to choose a Christian name from a list presented to her by the missionaries.

Within her extended family Albertina was the eldest of eight girls and it was her responsibility to take care of the younger girls.

Even from a young age Albertina showed strong maternal instincts, and this continued throughout her life.

However, Albertina was forced to leave school on several occasions to take care of her younger siblings ( because of her mother ’ s bad health ) and this resulted in Albertina being two years older than the rest of her class in her last year of primary school.

Although at the time this did not seem a major inconvenience, later when Albertina entered a competition to win a four year high school scholarship this counted against her as she was disqualified from the prize even though she had come in first place.

Although Albertina ’ s scholarship covered her board and lodging, she had to pay it back during the school holidays by ploughing the fields and working in the laundry room.

However, Father Huss advised Albertina against this as nuns did not earn a salary nor did they leave the mission post, so she would not have been able to support her family in the way she wanted to.

Albertina said of her marriage: " I was told that I was marrying a politician and there was no courtship or anything like that.

While her husband was on Robben Island, Albertina Sisulu raised the couple ′ s five children alone.

Her life is detailed in a biography by her daughter-in-law Elinor Sisulu, Walter and Albertina Sisulu: In our lifetime.

Albertina was arrested after her husband skipped bail to go underground in 1963, becoming the first woman to be arrested under the General Laws Amendment Act of 1963 enacted in May.

Albertina and her family were residents of Orlando West, Soweto, South Africa, when it was established.
