In 2011, Goldberg was announced as one of four great Israeli poets who would appear on Israel's currency ( together with Rachel Bluwstein, Shaul Tchernichovsky, and Natan Alterman ).

Especially celebrated are works from the 1950s and the 1960s, when art in modern Hebrew was created, in contrast to the poetry written previously, like that of Nathan Alterman, Avraham Shlonsky, and Leah Goldberg, or the literary style of one of the greatest Hebrew authors, S. Y. Agnon.

After the Six-Day War, Alterman was one of the founders of the Movement for Greater Israel, finding himself in alliance with right-wing activists whom he greatly opposed in earlier times of his career.

An extreme example is the song " Eliphelet ": to a halting melody in a minor key by Sasha Argov, the song ( lyrics by Natan Alterman ) tells of a boy " without a penny's worth of character ", who is killed in combat for an unthinking error of judgment.
