Robert Nozick's 1974 book Anarchy, State, and Utopia, which won a National Book Award, responded to Rawls from a libertarian perspective and gained academic respectability for libertarian viewpoints.

He is best known for his book Anarchy, State, and Utopia ( 1974 ), a libertarian answer to John Rawls's A Theory of Justice ( 1971 ).

For Anarchy, State, and Utopia ( 1974 ) Nozick received a National Book Award in category Philosophy and Religion.

He rejected the notion of inalienable rights advanced by Locke and most contemporary capitalist-oriented libertarian academics, writing in Anarchy, State and Utopia that the typical notion of a " free system " would allow adults to voluntarily enter into non-coercive slave contracts.

Robert Nozick and John Rawls expressed competing visions in Nozick's Anarchy, State, and Utopia and Rawls ' A Theory of Justice.

Engels also wrote some important newspaper articles such as " The Campaign for the German Imperial Constitution " which he finished in February 1850, and " On the Slogan of the Abolition of the State and the German ' Friends of Anarchy '" written in October 1850.

An argument similar to D ' Souza's was raised by Nozick in Anarchy, State, and Utopia, who wrote that the only way to achieve equality of opportunity was " directly worsening the situations of those more favored with opportunity, or by improving the situation of those less well-favored.

Benjamin Gitlow, a member of the Socialist Party of America who had served in the New York State Assembly, was charged with criminal anarchy under New York's Criminal Anarchy Law of 1902 for publishing in July 1919 a document called " Left Wing Manifesto " in The Revolutionary Age, a newspaper for which he served as business manager.

Despite these comments, Marx has been criticised strongly for adding the " socially necessary " qualification to labour time by the libertarian philosopher Robert Nozick in Anarchy, State and Utopia, for whom it is an unjustified ' bolt-on ' aspect of Marx's theory.

" Urban Struggle " was used in the film SLC Punk and in an Adidas commercial, while a lyric from " Anarchy Burger ( Hold the Government )" was used in the movie xXx.
