Andrew Carnegie (, but commonly or ; November 25, 1835 – August 11, 1919 ) was a Scottish-American industrialist who led the enormous expansion of the American steel industry in the late 19th century.

Andrew Carnegie was born in Dunfermline, Scotland, in a typical weaver's cottage with only one main room consisting of half the ground floor which was shared with the neighboring weaver's family.

The sixty-odd club members were the leading business tycoons of Western Pennsylvania and included among their number Frick's best friend, Andrew Mellon, his attorneys Philander Knox and James Hay Reed, as well as Frick's business partner, Carnegie.

In 1960, Hill published an abridged version of the book containing the Andrew Carnegie formula for wealth creation.

Andrew Carnegie is described in John Dos Passos ' 42nd Parallel as a confident man in whatever he invested in, which included many things that our world flourished on for many years to the present time.
