The St. Lawrence River is at the heart of many Quebec novels ( Anne Hébert's Kamouraska, Réjean Ducharme's L ' avalée des avalés ), poems ( in works of Pierre Morency, Bernard Pozier ), and songs ( Leonard Cohen's Suzanne, Michel Rivard's L ' oubli, Joe Dassin's Dans les yeux d ' Emilie ), and Andre Gagnon's Le Saint-Laurent ).

On his return to Paris in 1646, Le Brun found numerous patrons, of whom Superintendent Fouquet was the most important, for whom he painted a large portrait of Anne of Austria.

Le Brocquy died on 25 April 2012 and was survived by his daughter Seyre from his first marriage ( 1938 – 1948 ) to Jean Stoney, and his two grandsons John-Paul and David ; his second wife Anne Madden, and their two sons, Pierre and Alexis.

Anne was at last, in February 1651, forced to liberate the princes from their prison at Le Havre.

Faurisson generated much controversy with a number of articles, published in the Journal of Historical Review and elsewhere, as well as various letters he has sent to French newspapers ( especially Le Monde ), which deny various aspects of the Holocaust, including the existence of homicidal gas chambers in Nazi concentration camps, the reality of the systematic killing of European Jews using gas during World War II, the authenticity of The Diary of Anne Frank, and the veracity of Elie Wiesel's accounts of his wartime suffering.

He married, on 16 October 1735, Rebecca Samborne Le Bas ( died 16 January 1765 ), daughter and heiress of Charles Samborne Le Bas, of Pipewell Abbey, Northamptonshire, by whom he had two daughters, Lady Elizabeth ( 18 June 1739-21 January 1811, buried at Hartwell ), married on 20 June 1763 Sir William Lee, 4th Baronet, of Hartwell ( 12 September 1726-6 July 1799 ) and Lady Anne ( 1741 – 1746 ), and two sons, George Simon and William, who succeeded him as 2nd and 3rd earl respectively.

Mortier was born at Le Cateau-Cambrésis on 13 February 1768, son of Charles Mortier ( 17301808 ) and wife Marie Anne Joseph Bonnaire ( b. 1735 ), and entered the army as a sub-lieutenant in 1791.

* Anne Louise Bénédicte de Bourbon ( 8 November 1676 – 23 January 1753 ) was the wife of the Duke of Maine and thus daughter-in-law of Louis XIV ; she was one of the Regents most ardent enemies and was the aunt of the Duke of Bourbon ; she was also the grand daughter of the Le Grand Condé ; she held court at Sceaux and was exiled to Dijon after the Cellamare Conspiracy was found out ; she died in Paris having outlived most of her generation ;

* Anne Lefèvre ( 1654 – 1720 ), better known during her lifetime as Madame Dacier, scholar and translator of classics

On being appointed assistant tutor to the Dauphin in 1670, he edited, with the assistance of Anne Lefêvre, afterwards Madame Dacier, the well-known edition of the Delphin Classics.

He was concerned in the Fronde of 1651, but soon afterwards became reconciled with Mazarin, and in 1654 married the cardinal's niece, Anne Marie Martinozzi ( 1639 – 1672 ), and secured the government of Guienne.

One of his great-grandfathers, Pierre de Lesseps ( Bayonne, 2 January 1690 – Bayonne, 20 August 1759 ), son of Bertrand Lesseps ( 1649 – 1708 ) and wife ( m. 18 April 1675 ) Louise Fisson ( 1654 – 1690 ), was town clerk and at the same time secretary to Queen Anne of Neuberg, widow of Charles II of Spain, exiled to Bayonne after the accession of Philip V, and married on 7 January 1715 his great-grandmother Catherine Fourcade ( 2 June 1690 – 22 August 1760 ), by whom he had fourteen children, six of whom died in childhood: Dominique de Lesseps ( 1715 – 1794 ), Pierre de Lesseps ( 1716 –?

) The marriage, however, produced five daughters, including Anne ( d. 1654 ), who married Philip Stanhope, 2nd Earl of Chesterfield, no issue, and Elizabeth ( 1636 – 1718 ), who married Arthur Capell, 1st Earl of Essex.

She was close to her sister Marie Anne, whose marriage to the Duke of Vendôme ( 1654 – 1712 ) she later arranged.

Anne Downer, the daughter of a former Vicar of Charlbury, joined the Religious Society of Friends in London in 1654.

Sir Nathan Wright ( 1654 – 1721 ) was an English judge, Lord Keeper of the Great Seal under King William III and Queen Anne.

In 1646 he became secretary to the queen regent Anne of Austria ; in 1653 obtained high office in the kings household ; and in 1654 was ambassador extraordinary at the election of Pope Alexander VII.
