The work was composed after Diabelli, a well known music publisher and composer, in the early part of 1819 sent a waltz of his creation to all the important composers of the Austrian Empire, including Franz Schubert, Carl Czerny, Johann Nepomuk Hummel, and the Archduke Rudolph, asking each of them to write a variation on it.

She was married on February 6, 1982 to Carl Christian Maria Anna Rudolph Anton Marcus d ' Aviano, Archduke of Austria, who was born in 1954.

On 29 November 1879 at the Basilica of Atocha in Madrid, Alfonso married a much more distant relative, Maria Christina of Austria, daughter of Archduke Karl Ferdinand of Austria and of his wife Archduchess Elisabeth of Austria.

She was the daughter of Archduke Ferdinand of Austria-Este and Maria Beatrice d ' Este, Princess of Modena.

The second but eldest surviving child of Holy Roman Emperor Charles VI and Elisabeth Christine of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, Archduchess Maria Theresa was born early in the morning of 13 May 1717, at the Hofburg Palace, Vienna, shortly after the death of her elder brother, Archduke Leopold, and was baptised on that same evening.

Firstly, on 31 May 1592, to Anna of Austria ( 1573 – 1598 ), daughter of Archduke Charles II of Austria ( 1540 – 1590 ) and his wife Maria Anna of Bavaria ( 1551-1608 ).

His only daughter, Maria Beatrice d ' Este, married Ferdinand I, Archduke of Austria-Este, son of Empress Maria Theresa of Austria ; and in 1814 their eldest son, Francis IV, received back the estates of the Este.

Archduchess Marie Louise of Austria ( who was given the Latin baptismal name of Maria Ludovica Leopoldina Francisca Theresa Josepha Lucia ) was born at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna on 12 December 1791 to Archduke Francis of Austria and his second wife, Maria Theresa of Naples and Sicily.

Flattering letters were sent between Napoleon and Emperor Francis, Empress Maria Ludovika Beatrix and Archduke Charles during the wedding festivities.

It was commissioned by the Empress Maria Theresa of Austria and dedicated to her fourth son, the Archduke Ferdinand of Austria, who at that time resided in Milan, as governor of Lombardy.

The marriage never materialised ; Maria Beatrice instead married Leopold's brother, Archduke Ferdinand.

They were first cousins as male-line grandchildren of Charles II, Archduke of Austria and Maria Anna of Bavaria.

Born as the seventeenth child of the dispossessed Robert I, Duke of Parma and his second wife Infanta Maria Antonia of Portugal, Zita married the then Archduke Charles of Austria in 1911.
