Entirely for his own purposes, Loki magically endowed mystical powers on a small group of normal humans, transforming Madelyne into a mystical healer of virtually any injury, illness, or physical defect, and given the name " Anodyne ".

When transformed into Anodyne, Madelyne also took on the stature of an Asgardian, possibly also gaining the hardier physiology and strength of that race.

The band parted ways with Anodyne, signed to Megaforce and began recording new material in the winter of 2008.

Shortly after the release of the band's major label debut album Anodyne, Farrar announced his decision to leave the band owing to a soured relationship with his co-songwriter Tweedy.

Anodyne consisted of live-in-the-studio recordings and included a duet with Farrar and Doug Sahm of the Sir Douglas Quintet.

Uncle Tupelo's last album, Anodyne, featured a new lineup for the band — a five-piece outfit with drummer Ken Coomer, bassist John Stirratt, and multi-instrumentalist Max Johnston.

The album was released by Anodyne Records on July 17, 2007.

With the addition of Stirratt, Coomer, and Johnston just prior to the recording of Anodyne, Farrar and Tweedy's relationship became more tumultuous and led to verbal altercations between Tweedy and Farrar after concerts.

The five-piece band recorded Anodyne, which sold over 150, 000 copies and debuted at number 18 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, but was the last album Uncle Tupelo released.

In mid-May, the band began to rehearse songs in the office of band manager Tony Margherita, and hired producer Brian Paulson, who produced Anodyne.

Joe McEwen, who originally signed Uncle Tupelo to a Warner subsidiary, felt that Wilco was taking a step backwards from the material on Anodyne.

When Madelyne Pryor becomes possessed by the Goblin Force and takes over New York, the Fallen defects from the Six alongside her, becoming her second-in-command, and later vanishing after her defeat.

As a clone of Jean Grey, Madelyne Pryor also possessed mutant abilities of telekinesis and telepathy.

Madelyne also developed powers that Jean never possessed: she was able to teleport over long distances by psychokinetically shifting in and out of the astral plane ( and was shown to be able to carry along at least one other person with her when teleporting ), and also able to channel psionic energies from other psionic-powered mutants to boost her own abilities or those of another ( usually Nate Grey, and on occasion Cable ).

Not much is known of the early years of the team, but when Havok began to have an affair with Sue Storm of the Fantastic Four, Havok's wife Madelyne came running to Ice-Man.

Madelyne eventually resurfaces with powers awakened by a demonic pact, calling herself the " Goblyn Queen ".

Horrified by what it had done, Jean rejected it and it went on to join with Jean's clone, Madelyne Pryor.

This portion of the Phoenix remained with Madelyne until she also committed suicide and the Phoenix consciousness rejoined with the awakened Jean.

Madelyne uses the hair sample to locate Jean's gravesite, and then attempts to repeat a resurrection ritual with her corpse, but Cyclops had ordered Domino to substitute the body for someone elses and it somehow causes Madelyne to either discorporate or become absorbed into the fake.

Selene and her new amnesiac thrall Madelyne Pryor join with Shaw to regain their roles in the Hellfire Club.

The other members are Marvel Woman ( Madelyne Pryor ), Ice-Man ( with his powers enhanced beyond his control ), the Brute ( a Hank McCoy who possesses green scales and an amphibious nature instead of blue fur ), and Bloodstorm ( an alternate version of Storm who is turned into a vampire by Dracula ).

Madelyne Pryor was introduced during the acclaimed 1983 Uncanny X-Men run that saw long-time writer Chris Claremont pair with artist Paul Smith for a series of issues that would see the Jean Grey look-alike marry the retired X-Men leader Scott Summers ( Cyclops ).

Claremont had conceived Madelyne as a device to write Scott Summers out of the X-Men and have him retire " happily ever after " with Madelyne and their child.

The staffers had created a predicament that deeply compromised the character of Cyclops and left little room for Madelyne, and Cyclops ' uncharacteristic ( at the time ) behavior has been controversial with fans ever since.

It was then attempted to address these problems through a retcon, in the 1989 Inferno crossover, where Madelyne was not only revealed to be a clone of Jean Grey, created by Mr. Sinister to produce a child with Scott Summers, but corrupted by her anger and demonic influence into the Goblin Queen.

Scott, still recovering from Jean's death, became obsessed with the idea that Madelyne was her look-alike reincarnation, eventually confronting her with his suspicions.

After the conflict, Scott finally came to terms with the fact that Jean Grey was dead and that Madelyne was not her, and that he loved her all the same.

Early in Madelyne and Scott's marriage, they ( along with Alpha Flight and the rest of the X-Men ) would have a brief but dramatic encounter with the Norse trickster-god Loki.

Without explaining himself, Scott left Madelyne and their son to reunite with his lost love and sweetheart.

Monitoring news transmissions, Madelyne learned that Jean Grey was alive and with Scott.

Madelyne instinctively lashed out with some powerful subconscious abilities which caused the deaths of her torturers, but the damage was done, as the process deprived her of all motherly instincts.

Shortly after being rescued by the X-Men, Madelyne struck an additional bargain with another demon, N ' astirh, to find her missing son ; also, she and Alex began an affair.

In a last-ditch effort to hurt both her husband and her " father ", Madelyne was now all too willing to go along with the destruction of her son Nathan Christopher.

The heroes broke through the bubble and Cyclops rescued his son, but Madelyne committed suicide in an attempt to telepathically take Jean with her.

However, in the end, Stryfe was betrayed by Madelyne Pryor, who gave Nate his power back.

A few months later, in August, an eyewitness, Madelyne Tolentino, reported seeing the creature in the Puerto Rican town of Canóvanas, when as many as 150 farm animals and pets were reportedly killed.

A new research by Benjamin Radford concluded that the description given by the original eyewitness in Puerto Rico, Madelyne Tolentino, was based on the creature Sil in the science-fiction horror film Species.

Though Jean encourages Cyclops to return to Madelyne, he finds their house abandoned and assumes that Madelyne has left him and taken their infant son ; Cyclops returns to X-Factor and he and Jean continue their relationship.

Jean and Madelyne confront each other, and Madelyne attempts to kill them both.

In order to join the team, Cyclops walked out on his new wife Madelyne Pryor, an Alaskan pilot who bore a strange resemblance to Grey, and their infant son, Nathan Christopher.

In the 1989 crossover Inferno, Madelyne Pryor was revealed to be a clone of Jean Grey created by the nefarious mutant geneticist Mister Sinister.

Madelyne planned to sacrifice Nathan to open an interdimensional portal and to hurt Cyclops and Sinister as much as possible.

Madelyne suffered a mental breakdown upon discovering she was a clone and killed herself.

This period also included the emergence of the Hellfire Club, the arrival of the mysterious Madelyne Pryor, and the villains Apocalypse, Mister Sinister, Mojo, and Sabretooth.

Sinister later created four clones of Madelyne to take the energies from the Phoenix Five ( Cyclops, Emma Frost, Colossus, Namor and Magik ), and while they managed to siphoned some of the energy from the Phoenix, the entity eventually burns away the Madelyne clones and free the Phoenix Five, who incinerate Mister Sinister and his whole city.

Since Cyclops is still married to Madelyne Pryor at the time, Angel's love for Jean finds its way to the surface as Jean turns to Warren for emotional support in lieu of Cyclops ' coldness towards her.

Scott was the son of that reality's Alex Summers and Madelyne Pryor.
