One notable use was during the French Revolution, when the dethroned King Louis XVI ( a member of the House of Bourbon and a direct male-line descendant of Hugh Capet ) and Queen Marie Antoinette ( a member of the House of Habsburg-Lorraine ) were referred to as " Louis and Antoinette Capet " ( the queen being addressed as " the Widow Capet " after the execution of her husband ).

* March 17 – Leaders of the Amboise conspiracy, including Godefroy de Barry, seigneur de La Renaudie, make an unsuccessful attempt to storm the château of Amboise, where the young French king and queen are residing.

The Qabr-er-Rumia -- best known by its French name, Tombeau de la Chrétienne, tradition making it the burial-place of Florinda, la Cava Rumía, the beautiful and unfortunate daughter of Count Julian -- is near Kolea, and is known to be the tomb of the Mauretanian king Juba II and of his wife Cleopatra Selene, daughter of Mark Antony and Cleopatra, queen of Egypt.

Through her father, Marie Antoinette became the second ( after Margaret of Valois, the renowned Queen Margot ) French queen ever to descend from Henry II of France and Catherine de ' Medici.
