The resulting chaos aboard the enemy command ship causes disorder throughout the enemy fleet, allowing the United Earth Forces and their Zentraedi allies under Breetai to launch an attack that cripples the enemy forces and seizing the factory to assist in the rebuilding of Earth.

During those years the United Earth Government began a process to build a fleet to establish extra-solar colonies, setting up an expeditionary force and integrating the former Zentraedi soldiers into human society.

Filled with fear, the Zentraedi soldiers drop their weapons and abandon their posts, throwing the command ship into chaos and causing disorder throughout the enemy fleet.

The Sterlings ' diversion gives the United Earth Forces ( UEF ) and the Zentraedi that have allied with them under Breetai time to cripple the enemy fleet and seize the factory.

In the battle against the Zentraedi Grand Fleet, Rick, like the rest of the SDF-1 crew, is devastated as he watches the fleet fire on Earth and destroy almost all life on the planet.

In 2012, following the defeat of the Zentraedi fleet, Lisa settles down in New Macross City and works toward rebuilding Earth after the devastation from the war.

Breetai's decision to call a truce with the SDF-1 one marks him and his fleet for death by Zentraedi Supreme Commander Dolza, who fears that the contamination of human culture will destroy the Zentraedi if it is not halted.

In 2011, Dolza mobilizes his entire fleet of 4. 8 million warships to travel to Earth to destroy the planet, the SDF-1 and the contaminated Zentraedi.

Although this new alliance are unable to prevent 95 % of Earth's surface from being devastated by Dolza's fleet, they are able to destroy Dolza, his planetoid home base and virtually the entire Zentraedi Grand fleet.

Following the destruction of Dolza's fleet, Breetai and the surviving Zentraedi work to rebuild Earth along with the 70, 000 human survivors of the war.

As Zentraedi attacks bounced off the Battlefortress, they began to attack much more fiercely, and soon the Pinpoint Barrier System operators were overwhelmed by the constant fire.

Beginning in March 2013, Zentraedi rebellions began as a series of violent incidents again human civilians that would be called the Malcontent Uprisings.

In January 2014, Max and Miriya again fight alongside Rick Hunter in the final battle against Khyron and rebel Zentraedi.

As the 70, 000 survivors of the Zentraedi holocaust rebuild Earth, Rick once again becomes obsessed with Minmay, much to the dislike of Lisa who wishes that Rick could understand that she loves him, but he remains uncomfortable around her due to the age difference and the fact that she is a superior officer.

Between the firing of the massive Grand Cannon by the Alaska Base, direct casualties of the enormous engagement between Zentraedi, and the massive explosion resulting from the destruction of Dolza's planetoid, losses are overwhelming.

The fifth and final Sentinels novel, Rubicon, reveals that during the final stage of the war, he was stationed at the Alaska Base Grand Cannon facility when it was devastated by the Zentraedi armada in the television series episode, " Force of Arms ".

While Lisa explores the abandoned base, and the last of the supplies are being loaded on the SDF-1, the Zentraedi were waiting in hiding to attack as soon as the gravity mines were powered up sufficiently to hold the ship ; however, a Zentraedi soldier became impatient and impulsively broke ranks to begin the attack.

The Jack McKinney novels and Robotech comics such as The Malcontent Uprisings limited series developed a Zentraedi language which was different from the language which was developed for Macross DYRL and was not as completely developed as the Macross version.

In June 2013, the Breetai commands a joint-mission which proves successful in capturing the last remaining Zentraedi Satellite factory.

At the same time, and, unaware of this development, the Robotech Expeditionary Force – which comprised most of the Robotech Defense Force and loyal Zentraedi forces, led by Admiral Rick Hunter and Admiral Lisa Hayes with the SDF-3 Pioneer as their flagship – departed from Earth in December 2022 to confront the Robotech Masters in their home star system.

Miriya shows Max how to disable Zentraedi power armor without killing the pilots, a tactic which is then utilized by the SDF-1's forces.

When the Zentraedi attack the SDF-1 in 2009, Miriya leads several raids against the human forces ; including one in which ace pilot Roy Fokker is killed.

Max and Miriya are the first union of a human and a Zentraedi, which becomes an unlikely symbol of peace between the two races as their wedding raises hopes throughout the SDF-1 that peace with the Zentraedi is possible.

Rick and Lisa are two of the most influential surviving military figures of the human race, and together with the Zentraedi Commander Breetai, they construct the SDF-3, with which they intend to take humanity to its destiny in the stars.

The Regis leads the invasion of Earth while the Regent presses his assault against the remnants of the Masters ' empire on their own homeworld of Tirol, left virtually defenseless in the wake of the First Robotech War ( which saw the near-obliteration of the Zentraedi ) and the departure of the Robotech Masters ( to Earth, in search of the Protoculture Matrix ).

Piloted by human-form Stage 5 Invid, RCBs retain aspects of the traditional Invid mecha design but are in functional terms more like human battloids ( or the Zentraedi Female Power Armor design, with which it has much in common ).
