Howard Ashman, Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz had previous musical theatre experience and wrote songs for animated films during this time, supplanting Disney workhorses the Sherman Brothers.

Disney followed up Who Framed Roger Rabbit and its commercially successful 1988 fully animated feature Oliver & Company with The Little Mermaid, an adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale with songs by Broadway composers Alan Menken and Howard Ashman.

He collaborated with Alan Menken on several films, notably animated features for Disney, Ashman writing the lyrics and Menken composing the music.

Beauty and the Beast is a musical with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice and a book by Linda Woolverton, based on the 1991 Disney film of the same name.

The musical was the first Broadway adaptation by Disney, based on the 1991 animated film by Linda Woolverton and with music and lyrics by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice.

In addition to a number of other productions with the New York Shakespeare Festival as well as numerous other companies, Greene formed a close working relationship with the WPA Theatre, where she met Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, which led to a close, long-lasting friendship.

Howard Ashman, the original lyricist, had died, and additional lyrics were written by Tim Rice.

Chiefs of Relief were a British rock group led by guitarist-vocalist Matthew Ashman and also featuring drummer Paul Cook ( formerly of the Sex Pistols ).

Ashman died in 1995 and on the fifteenth anniversary of his death, the band reunited for a tribute concert for Ashman on 21 November 2010 at the Scala in London, in a show with Adam Ant topping the bill and also featuring later Ashman bands Bow Wow Wow and Agent Provocateur ).

As the historical novelist Clive Ashman so vividly puts it in “ MOSAIC – the Pavement that Walked ” ( Voreda Books ) his fictionalised account of not only the true-life, 1948 theft of a Roman mosaic from Brough, but also the original fate of the Roman villa it came from ( and of the Ala Picentiana itself ): “ As for the glorious Ala traceable back to Julius Caesar ’ s Gallic Wars, it is an inevitable truth that hundreds of years later there came one final day when its men rode jingling out of Derventio fort, never to be seen there again .”

The record individual score on a programme is 38 by Kevin Ashman ( who went on to become four times World Quizzing Champion, also holds the record for the highest ever score on Mastermind, became Brain of Britain question setter and one of the Eggheads ) in 1996.

She also played Audrey in Howard Ashman and Alan Menken's Little Shop of Horrors.

Howard Ashman was going to write songs for this movie as soon as he was finished with Aladdin, but he died during production of Aladdin, thus marking this being the first Disney movie with Alan Menken's music but without songs by Ashman.

Also in 1986, Ashman wrote the screenplay for the Frank Oz – directed film adaptation of his musical Little Shop of Horrors, as well as contributing the lyrics for two new songs, " Some Fun Now " and " Mean Green Mother From Outer Space ," the latter of which received an Academy Award nomination.

The second disc is comprised completely of songs from Smile, sung by Ashman and Hamlisch, with Hamlisch at the piano.

It comprised Ashman ( who for a brief time tried to continue Bow Wow Wow as their lead singer after the departure of Annabella Lwin for a solo career ), Cook, keyboard player Duncan Grieg, and bassist Lance Burman.

An early lineup included Ashman and Cook with former Bow Wow Wow members David Barbarossa and Leigh Gorman. Often compared to Big Audio Dynamite ( who they would later open for on tour ), The Chiefs fused rock with hip hop & electronic elements from the era.

Because of a push to enlarge non-Brethren representation on the board of trustees and establish a " double standard " of conduct for regular college students and pre-seminary college students, Bauman and Charles Ashman, Sr. ( 1886 – 1967 ) resigned from the Ashland College board of trustees on June 1, 1937.

Currently ranked World / European number 1, Ashman has 16 gold, 10 silver and 2 bronze medals from the British, European and World Championships, he has been capped 10 times for the England team, with a record of 7 wins and 3 losses.
