The Constitution of Azerbaijan SSR was approved by the 9th Extraordinary All-Azerbaijani Congress of Soviets on 14 March 1937.

However, due to the collapse of the Azerbaijan democratic Republic On April 28, 1920, the emblem was not approved.

By the Constitutional Law of the Supreme Council of the Azerbaijan Republic, approved on January 19, 1993, one of the projects, developed in 1919-1920 with certain alterations was confirmed the national emblem of the Azerbaijan Republic.

Azerbaijan is a member of the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, NATO's Partnership for Peace, Euro-Atlantic Partnership ; World Health Organization, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development ; the Council of Europe, CFE Treaty, the Community of Democracies ; the International Monetary Fund ; and the World Bank.

In July 1992, Azerbaijan ratified the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe ( CFE ), which establishes comprehensive limits on key categories of conventional military equipment.

A June 1998 Clinton administration report stated that Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia and Azerbaijan were not in compliance with the CFE treaty.

* In April 2005, an agreement was signed to build a railway from Turkey through Georgia to Azerbaijan ( see Kars Baku Tbilisi railway line ) probably using ( Standard gauge ) supposedly so that it can eventually link with China.

In 1998 Moldova contributed to the founding of GUAM, a regional cooperation agreement made up of Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova.

However, in July 2012, Tajik Aluminium Company ( TALCO ) and Azerbaijani company Azeraluminium signed a cooperation agreement during the official visit of President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to the Republic of Azerbaijan for the construction of oil refinery in the south of Tajikistan.

A supplementary agreement signed in Berlin on November 5 extended the treaty to cover Germany's relations with Soviet republics of Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and the Far Eastern Republic.

The agreement between the Soviet Russia and Turkey also called for attachment of the former Sharur-Daralagez uyezd ( which had a solid Azeri majority ) to Nakhchivan, thus allowing Turkey to share a border with the Azerbaijan SSR.

On 13 October 1921, the Soviet republics of Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia signed an agreement with Turkey known as the Treaty of Kars.

On 18 March 2005 Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan ( PFPA ) has signed an agreement with other opposition parties on the establishment of a united opposition bloc – " Freedom "-for the participation in the upcoming parliamentary elections in November 2005.

Novruz Mammadov, the head of the presidential foreign relations department, claimed that secret talks had been going on for a year between Azerbaijan and Hungary, and that agreement had been reached on the visit of Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbán.

Azerbaijan, due to its numerous fire-temples has also been quoted in a variety of historic sources as being the birthplace of the prophet Zoroaster although modern scholars have not yet reached an agreement on the location of his birth.

In April 2005, an agreement was signed to build a new railway connecting Turkey with Georgia and Azerbaijan, passing through Akhalkalaki.

On June 13, 1946, an agreement was reached between the Central Government Tehran and the delegates from Azerbaijan, headed by Pishevari.

In August 1919, the Karabakh National Council entered into a provisional treaty agreement with the Azerbaijani government, recognizing the authority of the Azerbaijan government until the issue of the mountainous part of Karabakh would be settled at the Paris Peace Conference.

On 22 July 2010, Boeing and Azerbaijan Airlines signed an agreement to substitute two Next-Generation 737 airplanes for one 767-300ER ( extended range ) and two 767 Freighters.

On 10 October 2007, the agreement forming a pipeline consortium was signed by the presidents of Poland, Ukraine, Lithuania, Georgia and Azerbaijan at the energy security conference in Vilnius.

Polgár participated in the rapid chess tournament of the Presidential Chess Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan from April 29 to May 1, 2010.

The old guard returned Mutalibov to power in May 1992, but less than a week later his efforts to suspend scheduled presidential elections and ban all political activity prompted the opposition Azerbaijan Popular Front Party ( PFP ) to organize a resistance movement and take power.

In May 1999, the U. S .- Azerbaijan Council sponsored a seminar to discuss relations among Azeris, Jews, and Israel.

In May 2010, Adams signed a three-year contract to manage Azerbaijani club Gabala FC of the Azerbaijan Premier League.

Undermined by increasing internal tensions and the pressure from the German and Ottoman empires, the Federation collapsed on May 26, 1918 when Georgia declared independence followed by Armenia and Azerbaijan within the next two days.

In the first tournament, in Baku, Azerbaijan, in April – May 2008, he finished in a three-way tie for first place, with another 2800 Elo performance.

On 28 May 1918 Armenia and Azerbaijan declared independence from the Transcaucasian Democratic Federative Republic, thus forming the Democratic Republic of Armenia and the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

In 1999, Uzbekistan joined the GUAM alliance ( Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova ), which was formed in 1997 ( temporarily making it GUUAM until Uzbekistan withdrew in 2005 ).
