Ross Bagdasarian, Jr. ( born Ross Dickran Bagdasarian ; May 6, 1949 ) is an American film producer, record producer, singer, and voice artist and the son of the Alvin and the Chipmunks creator Ross Bagdasarian, Sr.

Bagdasarian and Karman hold tight creative and financial control over the Chipmunk franchise, reviewing each and every business contract in great detail.

Four years later, he and wife Janice Karman sued them for breach of contract, claiming that Universal failed to properly utilize, market, and merchandise the characters and hence resulting in a loss of royalties to Bagdasarian.

Bagdasarian and Karman have two children: a daughter, Vanessa ( b. 1986 ), and a son, Michael ( b. January 19, 1990 ).

The Chipmunk Adventure was directed by Janice Karman from a screenplay by Karman and Ross Bagdasarian Jr ..

The film stars the voices of Karman, Bagdasarian Jr., and Dody Goodman.

Bagdasarian and his wife Janice Karman decided to finance the project themselves, having generated so much revenue from the Alvin and the Chipmunks TV series.

Bagdasarian ( again as Seville ) recorded a follow-up song, " The Bird on My Head ", singing a duet with his own sped-up voice as the bird.

A title card shown in the middle of the end credits reads " This film is dedicated to Ross Bagdasarian Sr., who was crazy enough to invent three singing chipmunks nearly fifty years ago ".

The composers performed the song themselves – Bagdasarian singing, Saroyan offering occasional narration – for Coral Records.

The voices of the group were all performed by Bagdasarian, who sped up the playback to create high-pitched voices.

The cartoon gave more distinctive looks and personalities to the three chipmunks than just their voices, and an animated portrayal of Seville was a reasonable caricature of Bagdasarian himself.
