Humans often derisively refer to Cylons as " toasters ," due to the resemblance of the Cylon centurions from the first Human / Cylon war ( the design of which is based on that of the centurions from the original series ) to " walking chrome toasters ", as described by Gaius Baltar in the miniseries.

That is lost when Gaius Baltar allows the humanoid Cylon " Caprica Six " access to the Colonial defense mainframe.

Aside from getting Ann Robinson to reprise her role as Sylvia van Buren from the film, the series also obtained John Colicos ( from Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek ) as rogue alien Quinn who, while only appearing twice, was no doubt intended to play an integral part of the series as it went on ( the character's power-hungry nature and middleman status between two worlds is noticeably reminiscent of Colicos ’ role as Count Baltar ).

Baltar was apparently rescued from the planet he was marooned on in " Hand of God ", and is now Commandant Baltar of the Cylon fleet pursuing the Galacticans.

The latter footage was actually taken from an episode of the original series — Baltar makes no appearance in any Galactica 1980 episode — and is partially dubbed, so as to make the speech sound relevant to the Galactica's new situation.

On TV, he is perhaps best remembered for playing the Klingon Commander Kor in Star Trek, as well as playing Count Baltar in the original Battlestar Galactica movie and television series.

Aerilon is primarily a farming colony and is referred to by Gaius Baltar as the " foodbasket " of the Twelve Colonies.

At the beginning of the miniseries, a Six copy is involved in an intense sexual affair with Dr. Gaius Baltar.

Caprica Six is reborn and helps Baltar escape onto a Cylon Basestar when New Caprica is ultimately abandoned by its population.

She joins the rescue mission for Hera and is finally proud of Baltar, something she had always wanted and feels was the one thing missing between the two of them.

Later, on Earth, she and Baltar are visited one last time by Head Six and Head Baltar, who explain their destiny was to protect Hera and while God's plan is never over, their lives will be much less eventful.

While this briefly leads Baltar to think he has truly gone insane, he concludes this is impossible, given Six's knowledge of events unknown to him ( for example, the prediction of the birth of the Human / Cylon Hybrid to Sharon Agathon while a prisoner aboard Galactica ).

When Baltar then asks just who or what she is, she simply replies she is " an angel of God sent here to protect you, to guide you and to love you.

While Six can physically interact with Baltar in his imagination, she also appears able to physically affect him in the real world — for example, in the episode " Escape Velocity ", Head Six is shown lifting Baltar from the floor to a standing position after he endured repeated blows from a Galactica marine.

While some of her advice appears to benefit humanity, for example, pointing out a Cylon device to Baltar on Galactica and helping him build a Cylon detector, it more often serves only Baltar's needs, and she expresses enjoyment over what she considers the inevitable extinction of the human race, constantly saying humanity is naturally violent and would have destroyed itself without the Cylons ' intervention.

Head Six appears to be somehow related to Caprica Six, which is the Six model who seduced Baltar on the planet Caprica and encouraged him to give her access to the Colonial Defense mainframe.

This belief is supported by the fact that Caprica Six has her own Head Baltar, implying some sort of transcendental connection between those two specific characters.

Their role as angel-like beings was to guide Baltar and Caprica Six in protecting Hera, and once that task is done, they leave them alone.

" As her appearance coincided with the temporary disappearance of Head Six, it is often wondered ( and indeed voiced by Baltar himself ) whether she was a physical manifestation of Head Six posing in a dual identity.

Some time later, she is assigned to the Kobol landing party as part of a technical crew, along with Chief Tyrol, Vice President Gaius Baltar, Lt. Crashdown and a number of others.

She constantly attempts to convince Baltar to believe in the Cylon god, and to accept his part in God's plan or will.

In her brief appearances in the first part of season 4, Baltar begins to refer to her as an angel.

Godfrey is a physical Six who was working to discredit Baltar as part of the overall Cylon stratagem in the fleet.

Once a part of the fleet, Baltar is haunted by visions of Number Six, with whom he converses often ( cf.

Baltar realizes there is a Cylon on board Galactica, but knows he cannot reveal that information, or indicate the device is not a part of the ship without implicating himself in the destruction of the Colonies.

When the Colonials evacuate New Caprica, Baltar and Caprica-Six discover Hera, the child of Sharon " Athena " Agathon whom Virtual Six predicted would be born in Galactica's Brig.

# " The Living Legend :" Baltar, having once again located the Galactica's Fleet, launches an attack using Raiders from all three of his base ships, just as the Galactica approaches Cylon's " Outer Capital ," Gommoray -- only to be thwarted on the verge of destroying the Galactica by the arrival of Commander Cain's ship, the battlestar Pegasus, which was inaccurately thought to have been destroyed in the attack on the Colonies.

All do escape let alone an overconfident Baltar, who witnesses a ( cleverly exploited ) malfunction in his re-activated Centurions that makes them destroy his Raider's launch panel instead of starting it, allowing the Galactica's people to re-apprehend him with little struggle.

Her death and an immediate threat to shoot Baltar force him to sign the order.

Under the new federal government this shifted to a residency system, thus Gaius Baltar was able to be elected as Quorum of Twelve delegate for Caprica, even though he was born and raised on Aerilon.

In the original series outline, Baltar was supposed to be a poor farmer's son from Sagittaron, who abandoned his past when he left for university on Caprica and re-invented himself into a world-renowned scientist.

According to Doctor Gaius Baltar, Caprica was the " seat of politics, culture, art, science and learning.

This leads them to take over Cylon culture and to resume the hunt for humanity, leading them to the colony of New Caprica, which they take over in a bloodless coup facilitated by Baltar, who surrenders to Caprica Six as soon as the Cylons arrive.

Her reunion with the real Baltar, however, shatters her illusions about her former pawn, as Baltar impotently allows the Cylons to bully him into enacting their oppressive tyranny upon New Caprica.

Baltar initially refuses and Caprica Six alone objects strongly to her fellow Cylons ' desire for mortal retribution.

After settling on the basestar, Caprica Six becomes involved in a ménage à trois with Baltar and Biers and explicitly states she loves both of them.

Caprica Six and Baltar then go off to start new lives as farmers together.

In the hallway, Cavil intimates that Godfrey has failed to produce convincing fake evidence because she is attracted to Baltar, and her statement that Baltar is " a brilliant man " who helped them so much on Caprica supports this, despite her protestation that Cavil should have seen her with him because " I was brutal with him.

With the assistance of Baltar ( who instantly transferred his love for Caprica Six onto Gina, vastly complicating his relationship with Head Six ), Gina escapes and flees into the civilian fleet after killing Rear Admiral Cain.

Dr. Baltar eventually becomes Vice President of the Colonies, then later assumes the Presidency after the first Post-War election, his first executive order being a move to settle on New Caprica.

Baltar is described as " weak ", " arrogant " and " a coward " by Lee Adama while Caprica Six describes Baltar as " narcissistic, self-centred, feckless and vain.

Gaius Baltar claims to be from the colony of Aerilon, and that at the age of ten, finding the Aerilonian dialect to be detrimental to his career dreams, he trained himself to speak the Caprican dialect in hopes one day being considered a citizen of one of the more respected and wealthy colonies such as Caprica.

On the day the Cylons attack humanity, she reveals she is an advanced Cylon, model Number Six ( later known as Caprica Six ), and she used the information that Baltar gave her to shut down the Colonial defenses, thus making him responsible for the Cylons ' successful genocidal campaign against the Twelve Colonies.
