In The 1980s, Bananarama were listed in the Guinness World Records as the all female group with the most chart entries in the world, a record which they still hold.

The song was an underground hit and Bananarama were signed by Decca ( later London Records ) and remained on the label until 1993.

During this early period Bananarama were approached by Malcolm McLaren, who offered to manage the group.

Bananarama was one of the few female groups featured on the Band Aid single, " Do They Know It's Christmas ?," and were the only artists to appear on both the original 1984 Band Aid, and the 1989, Band Aid II versions, with Siobhan Fahey only featured on the 1984 version.

Bananarama were said to have been put in contact with SAW after hearing and expressing a fondness for " You Spin Me Round ( Like a Record )" by Dead or Alive.

In September 2010, Bananarama were back in the studio with producer Ian Masterson, and recorded a Christmas song titled " Baby It's Christmas ".

The only artists from the original Band Aid to be featured again on this version were Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward of Bananarama.

In 1988, frustrated with the direction she felt Bananarama were heading, Fahey left the group and formed Shakespears Sister.

The Cover Girls began its musical career in the late 1980s at a time when other American and British girl groups such as Exposé, Bananarama, Seduction, Sweet Sensation, and Company B were scoring hit singles on the pop and dance charts.

These discs were often used for music video compilations ( e. g. Bon Jovi ′ s " Breakout ", Bananarama ′ s " Video Singles " or T ' Pau's " View From A Bridge ").

Their usual method for creating the music was to first write the songs, although many of their early acts ( such as Hazell Dean, Dead or Alive, and Bananarama ) often wrote their own material ; next they would record the music with extensive use of synthesizers, drum machines ( drums were often credited to " A Linn ", a reference to the Linn brand of drum machine ) and sequencers ; and then finally bring in a singer solely to record the vocal track.

It was used commercially to describe the Stock Aitken Waterman-produced hits by Dead or Alive, Bananarama, Jason Donovan, Sonia, and Kylie Minogue which were heavily based on the British experience with Italo-disco during holidays in Greece and elsewhere.

They were also credited with helping launch the career in 1982 of Bananarama, whom Hall first saw in The Face magazine.

Also there on the night were Bananarama and three of the Four Poofs and a Piano from Friday Night with Jonathan Ross.

The UK single version of " In Love With Love ," was remixed and produced by the Stock Aitken Waterman production team, who at the time were producing many popular singles in both the UK and the US by artists such as Bananarama, Dead or Alive, Rick Astley, ( and later Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan ).

That same year, Bananarama ( with Siobhan Fahey as special guest ) celebrated their 20th anniversary at the London Astoria in London, with an audience of 3000 people.

While in London, Fahey took a course in fashion journalism where she met Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward and joined their fledgling group, Bananarama.

Fahey again joined Bananarama in 2002 for a " last ever " reunion at the band's twentieth anniversary concert at G-A-Y in London.

British label London Records had requested the band record the 1983 hit " Cruel Summer " by Bananarama and it was selected as the second European single.

With their help, Bananarama recorded their first demo " Aie a Mwana " ( a cover of a song by Black Blood, sung in Swahili ).

For Summer's next album, Geffen Records hired the British hit production team of Stock Aitken Waterman ( or SAW ), who had enjoyed incredible success by writing and producing for such acts as Kylie Minogue, Dead or Alive, Bananarama, and Rick Astley among others.

Deep Sea Skiving is the debut album by the British female vocal group Bananarama, released in 1983.

It also featured cameo appearances by Hazel O ' Connor, Bananarama ( including Stewart's future wife, Siobhan Fahey ), Kate Garner of Haysi Fantayzee, Thereza Bazar of Dollar, Jay Aston and Cheryl Baker of Bucks Fizz, Kiki Dee, Jacquie O ' Sullivan and the gender-bending pop singer Marilyn, who would go on to musical success of his own that same year.
