Banksia is the restored mansion in Aiken, South Carolina that served as the first home of USC Aiken. Founded in 1961 in a historic mansion in downtown Aiken, USCA moved to its present site in 1972.

Banks is credited with the introduction to the Western world of eucalyptus, acacia, mimosa and the genus named after him, Banksia.
Banksia is a genus of around 170 species in the plant family Proteaceae.
The character most commonly associated with Banksia is the flower spike, an elongated inflorescence consisting of a woody axis covered in tightly-packed pairs of flowers attached at right angles.
This is most often seen in Banksia marginata and B. ericifolia ( pictured right ).
