Barnabe Googe or Gooche ( 11 June 1540 – 7 February 1594 ) ( also spelled Barnaby Googe ) was a poet and translator, one of the earliest English pastoral poets.

Barnabe Barnes ( c. 1571 — 1609 ), was an English poet.

Barnabe Barnes was well acquainted with the work of contemporary French sonneteers, to whom he is largely indebted, and he borrows his title, apparently, from a Neapolitan writer of Latin verse, Hieronymus Angerianus.

Barnabe Barnes was buried at Durham in December 1609.

" After the publication of Euphues Lyly seems to have entirely deserted the novel form, which was much imitated ( e. g., by Barnabe Rich in his Second Tome of the Travels and Adventures of Don Simonides, 1584 ), and to have thrown himself almost exclusively into play-writing, probably still with a view to the mastership of revels.

Barnabe Rich ( also Barnaby Riche ) ( c. 1540 – 10 November 1617 ), was an English author and soldier, and a distant relative of Lord Chancellor Rich.

His name is also associated with Barnabe Barnes's Parthenophil and Parthenope, and with the Worlde of Wordes of John Florio, who was for some years in his personal service as teacher of Italian.

Euphuism was, however, taken up by the Elizabethan writers Robert Greene, Thomas Lodge and Barnabe Rich.

* Poet Barnabe Barnes is prosecuted in Star Chamber for attempting to murder one John Browne, first by offering him a poisoned lemon and then by sweetening his wine with sugar laced with mercury sublimate ; Browne survived the attempt.

More open areas of the park have shallow gravelly loam of the Barnabe series, or deep hard loam of the Cronkhite series.

Nonetheless, Googe did have close associations with the court, since he was related to William Cecil.

On his return, Googe learned of Blundeston's actions and reluctantly gave his consent to their publication when he discovered that the printer had already paid for the paper for the print run and the composition was underway.

Before the appearance of his book, no writer in England had ever published his own poetry under his own name ; in this, Googe was an accidental pioneer.

Further service in Ireland awaited him in 1582 when Googe was appointed to the position of provost-marshal of the court of Connaught, and some twenty letters of his in this capacity are preserved in the Public Records Office.

Googe was an ardent Protestant, and his poetry is coloured by his religious and political views.

The English pastoral poem " Phyllida was a fayer maid " ( from Tottel's Miscellany of 1558 ) has been doubtfully ascribed to Googe, despite showing little stylistic rapport with his acknowldged works.

It may have been due to Cecil's encouragement that Googe accompanied the Elizabethan humanist scholar Sir Thomas Challoner on a diplomatic embassy to Spain in 1562.

By this time, Googe had served Cecil on a military expedition to Ireland, where he had contracted dysentry and nearly died.

It is often said, on scant evidence, that Googe knew other poets in Irish service, notably Edmund Spenser.

The volume includes epitaphs on Nicholas Grimald, John Bale and on Thomas Phaer, whose translation of Virgil Googe esteemed.

In July 2008 Wildstorm debuted a new ongoing WildCats series written by Christos Gage and pencilled by Neil Googe following on from the imprint's Number of the Beast mini-series.

In 1992, Goss and Googe resurfaced as Masters Of Reality with Sunrise on the Sufferbus.
