The Gong Show eventually had three later revivals, one under Barris ' title ( with Don Bleu ) in 1988-89, one on The Game Show Network in 2000 called Extreme Gong and another with current format owner Sony Pictures Television ( with Dave Attell ) in 2008.

During the winter of 1980, Barris attempted to rebuild by bringing back another game show that was not an original of his, Camouflage, in which contestants answered questions for the chance to locate a " hidden object " ( such as a toaster ) concealed within a cartoon-type drawing.

The Newlywed Game, by contrast, another Barris show, had recently-married couples competing to answer questions about each others ' preferences.

) For years it was almost always aired in tandem with another Barris production, The Newlywed Game, which premiered on ABC the following year.

At the time, in addition to his game show announcing duties for Barris Industries and The $ 100, 000 Pyramid O ' Donnell was announcing for another weekend music program, ABC's American Bandstand, which Solid Gold had many similarities with except for Bandstand not having the dance crew Solid Gold employed.

After that Barris staff announcer Johnny Jacobs took over and remained announcer for the series until the first syndicated version was canceled in 1980.
