A black jaguar named " Diablo " was inadvertently crossed with a lioness named " Lola " at the Bear Creek Wildlife Sanctuary in Barrie, Canada.

Fort Montgomery was located at the confluence of Popolopen Creek with the Hudson River near Bear Mountain in Orange County, New York.

The main Oregon and California Trail went almost due north from Fort Bridger to the Little Muddy Creek where it passed over the Bear River Mountains to the Bear River valley, which it followed northwest into the Thomas Fork area, where the trail crossed over the present day Wyoming line into Idaho.

Wetland / wildlife management areas include the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge ; Gillmor Sanctuary ; Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve ; Salt Creek, Public Shooting Grounds, Harold Crane, Locomotive Springs, Ogden Bay, Timpie Springs, and Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Areas.

Fires Creek Bear Reserve is north of the township of Tusquittee.

Other major streams in the county include Big Pipe Creek, Little Pipe Creek, and Double Pipe Creek, Bear Branch, and the headwaters of the Gunpowder Falls.

Another important source of pitchblende is at Great Bear Lake in the Northwest Territories of Canada, where it is found in large quantities associated with silver.

S., 1886 settled the remaining members of the two groups in the Little Pine's reserve died 1901 nahe Fort Assiniboine, Montana )

The Bear River starts on the north slope of the Uintas and flows north past Bear Lake, into which some of Bear River's waters have been diverted via a man-made canal into the lake, but later empty back into the river by means of the Bear Lake Outlet.

The Jordan River does not receive its water directly from the Uintas, rather it flows from freshwater Utah Lake, which itself is fed primarily by the Provo River ; the Provo River does originate in the Uintas, a few miles from the Weber and Bear.

The largest caught on a rod and reel was, caught in Great Bear Lake.

Bear Mountain / Harriman State Park became a reality in 1910, and by 1914 it was estimated that more than a million people a year were coming to the park.

The site is also preserved as part of Bear Lake State Park.

Three sections of the coastline are protected by Bear Lake State Park.

The Bear Lake area is the home to various business and industry ; primarily agriculture focusing on fruit production, and tourism due to the lake and the adjacent Manistee National Forest and Pere Marquette State Forest.

Just over one-half of the town's area is covered by Bear Brook State Park.

Bear Brook State Park occupies in the center of town, extending from the town's northern corner to its southern corner.

The highest point in town is Hall Mountain, at above sea level, located in Bear Brook State Park in the northwestern part of the town.

Victory trail begins in nearby Washington Crossing State Park, enters Ewing Township at Jacobs Creek Road and continues along Bear Tavern Road.

State purchase of farm and forest land from scores of owners, often by eminent domain, has resulted in the present Bear Mountain-Harriman State Park, which occupies about 12, 500 of Tuxedo's.
