Beavis and Butt-head is an American animated television series created and designed by Mike Judge.

Beavis and Butt-head originally aired from September 22, 1992 to November 28, 1997.

In 1996, the series was adapted into the animated feature film Beavis and Butt-head Do America.

The show centers on two socially awkward, rock-loving teenage delinquents, Beavis and Butt-head ( both voiced by Judge ), who live in the town of Highland, Texas.

Like Butt-head, Beavis compulsively laughs and grunts.

In the episode " Drones ", Beavis mentions something taking place " after Daria killed herself " and Butt-head incredulously tells him that Daria did not die but merely moved to a different city.

In the summer of 1993, Dick Zimmerman, a 44-year-old retired broadcasting executive from Larkspur, California, happened to see the episode in which Butt-head joked, “ Hey, Beavis, let ’ s go over to Stewart ’ s house and light firecracker in his cat ’ s butt .” Five days later, a cat was found killed by a firecracker in nearby Santa Cruz.

This disclaimer also appears before the opening of their Sega Genesis and Super NES game as well as their Windows game Beavis and Butt-head in Virtual Stupidity.

* In 1995 an adventure game based on the series was released called Beavis and Butt-head in Virtual Stupidity on the PC, with a PlayStation port being released in Japan.

* Many video games, including Beavis and Butt-Head, Beavis and Butt-head in Virtual Stupidity, Beavis and Butt-Head: Bunghole in One, Calling All Dorks, Little Thingies, Wiener Takes All, and Beavis and Butt-Head Do U.

In all, half of the 32 episodes on The History of Beavis and Butt-head weren't included on later releases of the series, including all but two episodes on the first disc.

On November 8, 2005, MTV and Paramount Home Entertainment released a three-disc DVD compilation titled Beavis and Butt-head: The Mike Judge Collection, Volume 1.

While Beavis is conscious of his mother's promiscuity, it doesn ’ t seem to bother him much, as he often laughs along in agreement whenever Butt-head brings it up ( in fact, when Butt-head refers to Beavis's mom as a whore, Beavis nonchalantly says " She's not a whore, she's a slut, she doesn't charge for it ").

On July 14, 2010, a spokesperson for MTV Networks informed a New York Post reporter that Mike Judge is creating a new Beavis and Butt-Head series, that Judge will reprise his voice-acting roles for the show, and that the animation will be hand-drawn.

In the first episode of Daria, she and her family move from Beavis and Butt-Head's hometown of Highland to Lawndale — the only references to the original show is a single mention of Highland in the first episode, with Daria saying Lawndale can't be a second Highland " unless there's uranium in the drinking water here too ".

Sick of It All's third and major label debut album, Scratch the Surface, was released in 1994 to critical acclaim, especially the singles " Scratch the Surface " and " Step Down " ( the video for the latter single would also be featured in the 1995 Beavis and Butt-head episode " Premature Evacuation ").

The neighbor boy Stewart, who was always trying to be accepted by Beavis and Butt-head, was usually depicted wearing a Winger T-shirt, as opposed to the heavier Metallica and AC / DC shirts worn by the title characters.

In 1992, he developed Frog Baseball, a short film featuring the characters Beavis and Butt-head, to be featured on Liquid Television, a 1990s animation showcase that appeared on MTV.

" John Allemang of The Globe and Mail described Daria in Beavis and Butt-head " the prematurely wise girl who could be counted on to put their idiocy in perspective.

A portion of the music video can be seen in the " No Laughing " episode of the MTV show Beavis and Butt-head.

The video came to be a quite popular on MTV, eventually landing a spot on the station's hit animated series Beavis & Butthead.

Mike Judge once said in an interview that Beavis " is a zero " when it comes to intelligence ; indeed, Beavis is often oblivious to what should be obvious.

Also, on the rare occasion that a female exhibits interest in one of the duo, it is usually Beavis ( as exemplified in the episodes: Vidiots, Another Friday Night, Teen Talk, Letters to Santa Butt-head in Christmas Special ) who gets the attention ; this could be because of Beavis ’ somewhat childlike temperament, which is less off-putting than Butt-head ’ s crasser, more blatantly sexual approaches.

However, in both instances Beavis seems to be either in a trance or possessed, and shortly afterward he displays no recollection of what he just said.

Nicaragua may be one of the few things Beavis remembers from class lectures.

This appears to be a byproduct of Beavis ' own general witlessness rather than any fear of Butt-head's abuse — as demonstrated in the alternate reality of It ’ s a Miserable Life, in which Butt-Head had never been born and Beavis was instead the dim but productive friend of Stewart Stevenson.

While Butt-head's main interest in life is " chicks ", Beavis seems to be more interested in toilet humor and displays of violence.

Because he was producer of Daria, he is sometimes claimed to be the creator of the character Daria Morgendorffer ; this was actually the work of writer Beavis and Butt-head writer David Felton, with some input from Mike Judge.

The channel also made them cut a scene in which Shelley sets Stan on fire the second time she beats him up to keep the show from coming under the same fire for showing dangerous acts that can easily be imitated as MTV's Beavis and Butthead and later, MTV's Jackass.

A few years later, the band's heavy glam rock appearance in the music videos would be parodied on Beavis & Butthead.

The video was shown on an episode of the animated series Beavis and Butt-Head, in which Butt-Head said of the video, " This is supposed to be funny ".

Although Beavis and Butt-Head greatly admire him and aspire to join his " gang ," Todd despises the two and frequently beats them up and takes advantage of them when he needs something, such as money, food or a place to hide from other gangs or the police.

In " Lord of the Harvest ," Todd refrains from beating up Beavis as Cornholio, citing that as being " messed up ," showing that even he does have some standards.

Beavis and Butt-Head relate to him mostly as Todd relates to them.
