The area now known as Temple Terrace was originally part of an exclusive game preserve called " Riverhills " belonging to Chicago socialite Bertha Palmer ( also known as Mrs. Potter Palmer ).

Bertha Palmer ( May 22, 1849 – May 5, 1918 ) was an American businesswoman, socialite, and philanthropist.
