The year 1964 saw the establishment of Dasholi Gram Swarajya Sangh ( DGSS ) (“ Dasholi Society for Village Self-Rule ” ), set up by Gandhian social worker, Chandi Prasad Bhatt in Gopeshwar, and inspired by Jayaprakash Narayan and the Sarvodaya movement, with an aim to set up small industries using the resources of the forest.

Recently Dr. Shekhar Pathak and Dr. Uma Bhatt, have brought out a biography of Nain Singh together with three of his diaries and the RGS articles about his travels in 3 volumes titled Asia ki Peeth Par published by Pahir, Naini Tal-a belated but fitting tribute to the man.

Apart from working at Prithvi theaters, Shankar used to frequently visit the office of a Gujrati director Chandravadan Bhatt who had promised Shankar that he would give him a break as a Music Director as and when he produced a film.

Ela Ramesh Bhatt ( born 7 September 1933 ) is the founder of the Self-Employed Women's Association of India ( SEWA ) A lawyer by training, Bhatt is a part of the international labour, cooperative, women, and micro-finance movements who has won several national and international awards.

She said, " I have a lot of heroes and heroines around the world and one of them is Ela Bhatt, who started an organisation called the Self-Employed Women's Association ( SEWA ) in India many years ago ".

Folk musician Harry Manx, who studied with Salil Bhatt and Vishwa Mohan Bhatt for five years, plays a Mohan Veena.
