Cecil Blount DeMille ( August 12, 1881 – January 21, 1959 ) was an American film director and Academy Award-winning film producer in both silent and sound films.

Rockford has one public school, Rockford Elementary School, a K-5 elementary school that is part of the Blount County Schools system.

William Blount High School and Mary Blount Elementary School, both in Blount County, are named after Blount and his wife, respectively.

The first woman lawyer in Canada, Clara Brett Martin, received her elementary education at Perry's School built in 1866, located in the Hamlet of Blount in South Mono.

The Winton M. Blount Elementary School in Montgomery County, completed in 2003, is named in his honor.

In 1867, he donated 120 acres ( 0. 5 km² ) of the Blount homestead land in the present-day town of Bartow: for an institution of learning ( aptly named the Summerlin Institute, now called Bartow High School, founded 1887 ), for establishment of a county seat, and for each of the town's two churches ( Methodist and Baptist ).

United States Supreme Court Justice Wiley Blount Rutledge, who served on the court from 1943 to 1949, was born at Tar Springs in 1894.

Blount County Road 15 intersects Alabama 79 just north of Locust Fork and provides a connection to the county seat located at Oneonta.

The nearest golf courses are the highly acclaimed semi-private Limestone Springs ( located just off Blount County Route 15 east of the town ) and the public course The Plantation ( located at the corner of Blount County Route 13 and Alabama Highway 160 just west of the town ).

Former United States Supreme Court Justice Wiley Blount Rutledge was born at nearby Tar Springs on July 20, 1894.

In the 1790s, Avery's Trace passed nearby, with travellers along the road lodging at Fort Blount about 10 miles to the west.

In April 1797, Carey was drinking at the Tellico Blockhouse near Knoxville when he gave a War Department agent a letter from Blount outlining the conspiracy.
