Borland stopped selling Borland C ++ 5. 02 and OWL in late 1999.

Borland did not believe that there was enough of a market to warrant updating the product, and it eventually stopped supporting it.

Corp. v. Borland Int ' l, Inc., brought forward Borland's open standards position as opposed to Lotus ' closed approach.

In early 2000, Borland announced that InterBase would be released under open source, and began negotiations to spin off a separate company to manage the product.

Borland released several updates to the open source code before announcing that it would no longer actively develop the open source project.

An open source internet community has released OWLNext, a series of improvements and patches to the original OWL which also allows newer compilers ( Borland C ++ Builder 5 – 6, GCC, Microsoft Visual C ++ 6, 2003 – 2010, BDS C ++ 2006, CodeGear C ++ 2007 – 2010 ).

* WDSibyl is an open source Delphi-like IDE and compiler available for Microsoft Windows and OS / 2, and is a commercial Borland Pascal compatible environment released by a company called Speedsoft that was later developed into a Delphi like RAD environment called Sybil and then open sourced under the GPL when that company closed down.

The suit was dismissed, and analysts noted that had it gone forward, Borland and other large companies would be open to copy-cat suits from any disgruntled former developer.

From version 6 both a lower-priced Turbo Pascal and more expensive Borland Pascal were produced ; Borland Pascal had more libraries and standard library source code.

When the people who were to run the new company and Borland could not agree on the terms of the separation, InterBase remained a Borland product, and the source code for InterBase version 6 was released under a variant of the Mozilla Public License in mid-2000.

Within a week of the InterBase 6. 0 source being released by Borland on 25 July 2000, the Firebird project was created on SourceForge.

After Borland deprecated OWL, development was taken over by group and is called OWLNext which consists of patches to the original OWL source code.

The source code of FastTracker 2 is written in Pascal using Borland Pascal 7 and TASM.

Around 1997 the C ++ version, including source code, was released by Borland into the public domain and is currently being ported and developed by an open-source community, under the GPL license.

In September 1991 Borland purchased Ashton-Tate, bringing the dBase and InterBase databases to the house, in an all stock transaction.

Plans to spin off the InterBase division as a separate company were abandoned after Borland and the people who were to run the new company could not agree on terms for the separation.

On February 8, 2006, Borland announced the divestiture of their IDE division, including Delphi, JBuilder, and InterBase.

The company was soon in trouble, and Borland purchased Ashton-Tate in 1991, acquiring InterBase as part of the deal.

With the InterBase division at Borland under new management, the company released a proprietary version of InterBase version 6 and then 6. 5.

On February 8 of 2006, Borland announced the intention to sell their line of development tool products, including InterBase, Delphi, JBuilder, and other tools.

At the end of 2002, Borland released InterBase version 7, featuring support for SMP, enhanced support for monitoring and control of the server by administrators, and more.

Borland released InterBase 7. 1 in June 2003, 7. 5 in December 2004, and 7. 5. 1 on June 1, 2005.

In September 2006, Borland announced the availability of InterBase 2007.

When Borland eventually sold its Quattro Pro and Paradox products to Novell, where they would be joined with Word Perfect in an attempt to match Microsoft Office, Borland was left with InterBase, which Esber had purchased in the late 1980s and had its origins as a derivative of the RDB database work at DEC. Borland's ongoing strategy was to refocus its development tools on the corporate market with client – server applications, so Interbase fitted in as a low-end tool and a good generic SQL database for prototyping.

Borland has released three old versions of Turbo Pascal free of charge because of their historical interest: the original Turbo Pascal ( now known as 1. 0 ), and versions 3. 02 and 5. 5 for DOS.

Oracle used to base the first versions of JDeveloper on code from JBuilder licensed from Borland, but it has since been rewritten from scratch.

VBX has also been supported in some versions of Borland Delphi.

Additionally, the Borland C ++ Builder has included OWL in the ' companion CD '.

After that Borland concentrated development in the VCL framework which has been evolving alongside OWL since Delphi 1. 0 launched two years before.

Borland is best known as the guitarist of the multi-platinum rock band Limp Bizkit with whom he has released five studio albums.

Borland is known for his sonic experimentation and elaborate visual appearance, which has included face and body paint, masks and uniforms.

Borland has discussed plans to write and perform on the next From First To Last album, but he left the band due to Black Light Burns ' busy schedule started to pick up, leaving no room for work with From First to Last. In 2008, Borland, along with Richard Fortus and Sugizo, supported Japanese metal band X Japan at their sold out reunion concerts at the Tokyo Dome.

Borland has also gone onto a remixing career with his distribution of alternative versions of songs by metal bands.

Most recently, The Word Alive has had their song " The Hounds of Anubis " remixed by Borland. Borland toured with From First To Last roughly since early 2006.

For Limp Bizkit's first three albums, Borland used Mesa-Boogie Dual and Triple Rectifier amps, but has played mainly Orange Amps ( specifically the Thunderverb 100 models ) since touring in support of Cruel Melody began and has continued to use them since then.

Borland has also used a Roland JC-120 combo amplifier to generate his particularly exceptional clean tones.

The new version has not only been developed further beyond earlier versions, but has been ported from now obsolete v5. 02 of Borland C ++ to Microsoft Visual Studio 2008, a major undertaking in itself.

Hungarian-born Huba Campbell ( born 1945 ), a third cousin once removed from the tenth Earl, has petitioned the Lord Lyon for recognition of his right to the Earldom of Breadalbane and Holland, together with the subsidiary titles, and to the undifferenced arms, this as the great-great-grandson of George Campbell, brother of George Andrew Campbell ( 1791 – 1852 ), brother of Charles William Campbell of Borland, grandfather of the ninth Earl.

The mangling scheme was established by Microsoft, and has been informally followed by other compilers including Digital Mars, Borland, and GNU GCC, when compiling code for the Windows platforms.

However, questionable quality and a high price led to poor sales, and Kylix has apparently been abandoned: despite occasional Borland references to Linux there has been no indication that another Kylix version is forthcoming.
