Once in Lórien, Boromir was greatly disturbed by the Lady Galadriel's testing of his mind ; he told Aragorn " not to be too sure of this lady and her purposes.

Boromir was unnerved by the thought of entering the elvish forest — he pleads with Aragorn to find another way " though it led through a hedge of swords ", citing the stories of elvish witchcraft he had heard about in Gondor, and the " strange paths " they had been taking which had already caused them to lose one Companion.

During the scattered fighting near Parth Galen, Boromir was mortally wounded by orc archers while defending Merry and Pippin, redeeming himself for trying to take the Ring.

The great Horn of Gondor that Boromir of the Fellowship of the Ring had was descended from Vorondil, an heirloom of the House of Húrin.

He sets out on this quest with eight other companions who comprise the Fellowship of the Ring: Legolas, a woodland elf, Gimli, a dwarf of Balin's clan, Boromir, a lord of Gondor, Aragorn, a Dúnedain ranger of the North, Gandalf, and three hobbits of the Shire, Samwise Gamgee, Peregrin Took and Meriadoc Brandybuck.

The plot of The Third Age involves Berethor, Captain of the Citadel Guard of Gondor, who is travelling to Rivendell to find Boromir, one of the nine members of the Fellowship of the Ring.

Arguably, Bean's most prominent role was as Boromir in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Their hide was thick enough that when Boromir struck one in the arm his sword was notched and did no damage.
