Sheedy marked next to the goalpost, went back to apparently take his kick from the impossible angle surrounded by opposition players, then casually ran in and handballed over the head of the man on the mark to lone teammate in the goalsquare who booted the easiest goal of his life.

Sheedy held down the role continuously between 1981 and 2007, during which time some other sides have had over a dozen different coaches.

In 1999 then Chief Justice Hamilton reported on the interventions of two judges, Justice Hugh O ' Flaherty of the Supreme Court and Justice Cyril Kelly of the High Court, in the early release of Philip Sheedy, who had been convicted of causing death by dangerous driving.
