The first Monte de Piedad organization in Spain was founded in Madrid, and from there the idea was transferred to New Spain by Pedro Romero de Terreros, the Count of Santa Maria de Regla and Knight of Calatrava.

The reoccupation of the surrounding territory by the Almohads was quickly commenced with Calatrava falling first.

On 16 June 2009, it was announced that Calatrava would be designing the first building of the new University of South Florida Polytechnic campus in Lakeland, Florida.

Afterwards, La Mancha was also divided into Mancha Alta and Mancha Baja, according to the level and flow of its rivers, including the first one the northeast part, from Villarubia de los Ojos until Belmonte, country of the old Iberian Lamitans, and the second one the southwest part, including Campo de Calatrava and Campo de Montiel, old country of the Iberian Oretans.

The MAM recently gained international recognition with the construction of the white concrete Quadracci Pavilion, designed by Santiago Calatrava ( his first completed project in the United States ), which opened on May 4, 2001.

* May 4 – Milwaukee Art Museum opens the Quadracci Pavilion, the first completed American project by Santiago Calatrava.

Designed by Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela, the project underwent the first stages of construction in July 1996 and the finished " city " was inaugurated April 16, 1998 with the opening of L ' Hemisfèric.

It was affiliated to the Order of Calatrava, from which its first recruits were drawn, and it was maintained in dependence upon that order.

The Order of Calatrava () was the first military order founded in Castile, but the second to receive papal approval.

The first military services of the Knights of Calatrava had been brilliant, and in return for the great services they had rendered they received from the King of Castile new grants of land, which formed their first commanderies.

This was Calatrava ’ s first proclamation as a municipality.

In 1214 Alcántara was first committed to the care of the Castilian Knights of Calatrava, who had lately received great support after their performance in 1212 at the battle of Las Navas de Tolosa against the Almohades.

Originally a Roman ( then Moorish ) settlement, the town was captured in 1151 by Alfonso VII and given to the Knights of the Order of Calatrava.

On October 16, 1898, a parish priest of Calatrava, then the township under which jurisdiction Nabingkalan, was a barrio, visited the place.

Calatrava, once a barrio in the town of San Agustin ( then called Badajoz ) in Tablas Island.

Calatrava, being a barrio of Badajoz then, was not represented.

After the disastrous Battle of Alarcos, the knights abandoned their bulwark of Calatrava to the Almohades ( 1195 ).

Confiscated by King Joseph ( 1808 ), re-established by Ferdinand VII at the Restoration ( 1814 ), the possessions of Calatrava were finally dissipated in the general secularization of 1838.

On 15 June 1968, through the sponsorship Congressman Jose D. Moreno, Republic Act No. 5317 was drafted and approved which finally established Calatrava as an independent municipality.

All nearby castles surrendered or were abandoned: Malagón, Benavente, Calatrava, Caracuel and Torre de Guadalferza, and the way to Toledo was wide open.

Later military orders like the Order of Santiago, Montesa, Order of Calatrava and the Knights Templar were founded or called to fight in Iberia.

In the presence of HM Queen Beatrix in 2004 three bridges designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava were opened.

They were retreating in chaos toward Almagro, where the Order of Calatrava has its home, and toward the S-ta Cruse, and even further, into the Sierramorena Mountains.

There were some disagreements among the members of the Christian coalition: French and other European knights were not used to the Iberian summer heat, but more importantly, they did not agree with Alfonso's merciful treatment of Jews and Muslims that were previously defeated in the conquest of Malagón and Calatrava la Vieja.

The land they were to occupy is now home to the 41-story 1180 Peachtree Street office tower and will soon house the Atlanta Symphony Center by Santiago Calatrava.

The stadium, which seats 5, 250-though only 3, 300 seats were made publicly available for the games-has distinctive twin roofs covering the stands on each side, designed by Santiago Calatrava.

Like the Knights of Calatrava in Castile, the Knights of Portugal were indebted to the Cistercians for their rule and their habit — a white mantle with a green fleur-de-lysed cross.

The new pueblos that were created in 1855 were: Guintiguian ( San Agustin ), Simara ( Corcuera ), Odiongan, Andagao ( Calatrava ), Parpagoja ( San Andres ), Tingaray ( Ferrol ), Catolog ( Santa Fe ), Cabalian ( sitio of Agmanic, Santa Fe, formerly a pueblo ), Saban ( sitio Sabang, Danao Norte, Santa Fe, formerly a pueblo ), Lauan ( Alcantara ), Guinbirayan ( barangay of Santa Fe ), Magallanes ( Magdiwang ), Pag-alad ( San Fernando ), Cauit ( now named barangay Azagra, San Fernando ), España ( barangay of San Fernando ), Isabel ( barangay Cambalo, Cajidiocan, formerly a pueblo ) and Princesa was formerly a pueblo now sitio Cangumba of barangay Azagra in San Fernando.

The Templars, however, were unable to hold Calatrava, and the king found further volunteer warriors when Raymond, Abbot of the Cistercian monastery of Fitero offered himself.

A cavalry detachment of the Order of Calatrava, plus some knights from nearby castles, tried to gather news about the Almohad strength and its heading ; they were surrounded by Muslim scouts and almost exterminated, but managed to supply information to the Castilian king.

Reinforcing the Portuguese forces were the Military Orders of Alcántara and Calatrava.

Two more were added, Arguelles ( Sagay ) and Calatrava when these were created into separate towns on July 3, 1863.

The new pueblos that were created in 1855 were: Guintiguian ( San Agustin ), Simara ( Corcuera ), Odiongan, Andagao ( Calatrava ), Parpagoja ( San Andres ), Tingaray ( Ferrol ), Catolog ( Santa Fe ), Cabalian ( sitio of Agmanic, Santa Fe, formerly a pueblo ), Saban ( sitio Sabang, Danao Norte, Santa Fe, formerly a pueblo ), Lauan ( Alcantara ), Guinbirayan ( barangay of Santa Fe ), Cauit ( now renamed barangay Azagra, San Fernando ), Pag-alad ( San Fernando ), Isabel ( barangay Cambalo, Cajidiocan ), Princesa ( sitio Cangumba, Azagra, San Fernando ), España and Magallanes ( Magdiwang ) were all created into separate municipalities or pueblos including Rancheria de Infiel ( Dulangan, Magdiwang ) in 1861.

They were tasked to defend the castle of Calatrava and other crucial towns and cities in the Andalucian region from invasions and attacks from the Moors.

The new pueblos that were created in 1855 were: Guintiguian ( San Agustin ), Simara ( Corcuera ), Odiongan, Andagao ( Calatrava ), Parpagoja ( San Andres ), Tingaray ( Ferrol ), Catolog ( Santa Fe ), Cabalian ( sitio of Agmanic, Santa Fe, formerly a pueblo ), Saban ( sitio Sabang, Danao Norte, Santa Fe, formerly a pueblo ), Lauan ( Alcantara ), Guinbirayan ( barangay of Santa Fe ), Cauit ( now named barangay Azagra, San Fernando ), Pag-alad ( San Fernando ), España ( barangay of San Fernando ), Isabel ( barangay Cambalo, Cajidiocan, formerly a pueblo ), Princesa ( formerly a pueblo now sitio Cangumba of barangay Azagra in San Fernando ) and Magallanes ( formerly Naylog now Magdiwang ).

Then, in 1211, Muhammad al-Nasir had crossed the Strait of Gibraltar with a powerful army, and invaded the Christian territory and captured the stronghold of the Calatrava Knights in Salvatierra.

The main Olympic Stadium, the designated facility for the opening and closing ceremonies, was completed only two months before the games opened, with the sliding over of a futuristic glass roof designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava.

The mildness of this rule furthered the rapid spread of the order, which eclipsed the older orders of Calatrava and Alcántara, and whose power was reputed abroad even before 1200.

Most of these burial sites are concentrated in the islands of Cobrador, Alad and Banton and the slopes of Mount Payaopao and on the eastern slopes of Tablas summit located in barangay Talisay, Calatrava and to date many remained unexplored, evidence that these places were settled long before the coming of the European colonizers.

She met with her son a final time in Pozuelo de Calatrava in 1245, afterwards returning to Castile, where she died the next year.

An early battle was the reconquest of Calatrava ( 1212 ), which was returned to its former masters.
