Its jurisdiction comprises the counties of Albany, Broome, Cayuga, Chenango, Clinton, Columbia, Cortland, Delaware, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Hamilton, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Montgomery, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, Otsego, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, St. Lawrence, Tioga, Tompkins, Ulster, Warren, and Washington.

The 24th Congressional District of New York includes all or parts of Broome, Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Herkimer, Oneida, Ontario, Otsego, Seneca, Tioga and Tompkins counties.

Growth in the area forced expansion to the south of Geddes and more modest homes were constructed along Cayuga, Hamilton and Schuyler Streets.

McSorley was born in Hamilton, Ontario, but grew up near Cayuga, a small town in Haldimand County.

The 1838 and 1842 Treaties of Buffalo Creek were treaties with New York Indians, such as the Seneca Nation, Mohawk nation, Cayuga nation, and Oneida Indian Nation, which covered land sales of tribal reservations under the US Indian Removal program, by which they planned to move most eastern tribes to Indian Territory.

During the 17th century, the Iroquois Confederacy ( then consisting of the Mohawk, Onondaga, Cayuga, Oneida, and Seneca tribes ) drove the Hurons from the state.

By the time of later French contact, for instance in the early 17th century with Samuel de Champlain, the Five Nations of the Haudenosaunee: Mohawk, Onondaga, Oneida, Cayuga, and Seneca, were allied in the Iroquois Confederacy, based in present-day New York.

The various Iroquois tribes all had similar words for the concept: the Oneida called it Te-ah-o-ge, the Mohawk called it Te-yo-ge-ga, the Cayuga called it Da-o-ga and the Seneca called it Da-yo-o-geh.

In 1748, when Conrad Weiser visited Logstown, downriver from Pittsburgh, he counted 789 warriors gathered: 165 Lenape, 163 Seneca, 162 Shawnee, 100 Wyandot, 74 Mohawk, 40 Tisagechroamis, 35 Onondaga, 20 Cayuga, 15 Oneida, and 15 Mohicans.

Oneida ( Cayuga: Ganaˀdahi: ) is an unincorporated community and former census-designated place ( CDP ) in the town of Oneida, Outagamie County, Wisconsin, United States.

The belt symbolizes these Five Nations from west to east in their respective territories across New York state: Seneca ( keepers of the western door ), Cayuga ( People of the Swamp ), Onondaga ( Keepers of the Fire ), Oneida ( People of the Standing Stone ) and Mohawk ( keeper of the eastern door )— by open ‘ squares ’ of white beads with the central figure signifying a tree or heart.

Gayanashagowa or the Great Law of Peace of the Iroquois ( or Haudenosaunee ) Six Nations ( Oneida, Mohawk, Cayuga, Onondaga, the Seneca and Tuscarora ) is the oral constitution whereby the Iroquois Confederacy was bound together.

The four links on the belt are meant to symbolize four of the five Nations of the Iroquois Confederacy, namely the Mohawk, Oneida, Cayuga and Seneca Nations.

On July 8, 1788, the Seneca ( along with some Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, and Cayuga tribes ) sold rights to land east of the Genesee River in New York to Oliver Phelps and Nathaniel Gorham of Massachusetts.

In 1785 a census showed that 1, 843 Natives lived there, including 448 Mohawk, 381 Cayuga, 245 Onondaga, 162 Oneida, 129 Tuscarora, and 78 Seneca of the Iroquois Six Nations, the Haudenosaunee.

The Mohawk and the rest of the Iroquois confederacy ( Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Tuscarora and Oneida ) in fact wore a square of hair on the back of the crown of the head.

The western half of the refuge is divided into four large wetlands: Cayuga Pool, Mohawk Pool, Oneida Pool, and Seneca Pool.

The Central New York Regional Transportation Authority, known as Centro, is the operator of mass transit in Onondaga, Oswego, Cayuga, and Oneida counties in New York state.

However, Oneida County routes do not connect directly to those in Onondaga, Cayuga, and Oswego Counties.
