In 2005 Chris Huhne was elected as the Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament ( MP ) for the Eastleigh constituency after the previous MP ( David Chidgey, also Liberal Democrat ) retired.

On 3 February 2012, following the resignation of Chris Huhne due to his prosecution for perversion of the course of justice, Davey was appointed Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, and appointed to the Privy Council on 8 February.

During the tenure as Editor of Chris Huhne in 1975, material was received anonymously about a candidate in the O. U. S. U.
