Dodge vehicles would not return to the UK until the introduction of the Neon, badged as a Chrysler, in the mid 1990s.

However, in 2010 Chrysler pulled the Dodge marque from the UK lineup due to poor sales.

During the late 1970s Chrysler era, Simca produced the new 160 / 180 saloon, 1307 range ( Chrysler Alpine in the UK ) and later the Horizon ( Dodge Omni and Plymouth Horizon in the USA ), both of which were European Car of the Year on their launch.

The same year Siemens acquired Photo-Scan ( UK, CCTV systems ) US Filter Corporation ( water and Waste Water Treatment Technologies / Solutions, acquired from Veolia ), Hunstville Electronics Corporation ( automobile electronics, acquired from Chrysler ), and Chantry Networks ( WLAN equipment )

But this wasn't enough to keep Vauxhall from being well behind market leaders Ford and British Leyland in the sales charts, and most of its range was struggling even to keep pace with Chrysler UK ( formerly the Rootes Group ).

By 1979, Vauxhall had increased its market share substantially ; it was still some way behind Ford and British Leyland, but had overtaken Talbot ( the successor organisation to Rootes and Chrysler UK ).
