In a February 1966 session, blues pianist-singer Champion Jack Dupree ( originally from New Orleans but in the 1960s living in Europe ) got Mayall and Clapton to play on a few tracks.

" Layla " is a song written by Eric Clapton and Jim Gordon, originally released by their blues rock band Derek and the Dominos, as the thirteenth track from their album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs ( December 1970 ).

This song is based on a sample of Greg Philinganes ' track " Behind The Mask " ( originally by the Yellow Magic Orchestra and later covered by Eric Clapton in 1987 ).

" Your Kid Committed Suicide Because You Suck " was originally titled " Connor Clapton Committed Suicide Because His Father Sucks ".

Each guitar is crafted to Clapton's exacting specifications and bear a unique " Crossroads Antigua " smiling sun graphic designed and originally hand-drawn by Eric Clapton himself.

Clapton wrote in his autobiography that he wanted to make the " saddest album " to the moment, so he called Simon Climie and started the project.

The band and its individual members worked with and wrote for artists such as Michael Jackson, Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, Santana, Stevie Wonder, Miles Davis, Larry Carlton, Chicago, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Quincy Jones, Paul McCartney, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Lionel Richie, Olivia Newton-John and hundreds more.

When he wrote " Layla ," Clapton had been told the story by his friend Ian Dallas, who was in the process of converting to Islam.

During their relationship, Clapton wrote another love ballad for Pattie called " Wonderful Tonight " ( 1977 ).

While working with Clapton, she wrote several songs with him, including " Lay Down Sally.

Clapton wrote the song about Pattie Boyd, and it is mentioned in her autobiographical book Wonderful Tonight: George Harrison, Eric Clapton, and Me.

On September 7, 1976, Clapton wrote " Wonderful Tonight " for Boyd while waiting for her to get ready to attend Paul and Linda McCartney's annual Buddy Holly party.

Clapton wrote the film's score and performed on it.

After completing the Idlewild South sessions Duane Allman joined Eric Clapton and his ad hoc Derek and the Dominos to record the classic Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs.

The 15-night stand was considered to be the best Beacon run of all, highlighted by two nights of the first-ever stage appearance of Eric Clapton with the band and performances of numbers from Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs.

Here Eric Clapton joins the band in March 2009 to play songs from 1970's classic Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, which had featured Duane Allman.

On 20 September 1983 a benefit show called the ARMS Charity Concert for Multiple Sclerosis at the Royal Albert Hall in London featured a jam with Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page performing " Layla ".

Gordon then played on Derek and the Dominos ' 1970 double album, Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, contributing, in addition to his drumming, the elegiac piano coda for the title track, " Layla ," co-written by Gordon and Clapton.

Clapton paid homage to the song in his lyrics for the Derek and the Dominos song " Layla " ("... please don't say we'll never find a way, and tell me all my love's in vain ").

However, in 1970, for his landmark Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs with a new band, Derek and the Dominos, Clapton switched to a tobacco sunburst Stratocaster from 1956, nicknamed " Brownie ".

His first, nicknamed " Brownie ", due to its sunburst brown finish, was used on his albums Eric Clapton and Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs.

On February 16, 2010, Ono revived an early Plastic Ono Band line-up with Eric Clapton and special guests including Paul Simon and Bette Midler.

Each was impressed with the other's playing abilities, prompting Baker to ask Clapton to join his new, then-unnamed group.

Clapton had met Bruce when the bassist / vocalist briefly played with the Bluesbreakers in March 1966 ; the two also had worked together as part of a one-shot band called Powerhouse ( which also included Steve Winwood and Paul Jones ).

Impressed with Bruce's vocals and technical prowess, Clapton wanted to work with him on an ongoing basis.

Inspired by more song-based acts Clapton went on to perform much different, less improvisational material with Delaney & Bonnie, Derek and the Dominos and in his own long and varied solo career.

A formal reunion did not take place immediately, as Clapton, Bruce and Baker continued to pursue solo projects, although the latter two worked together again in the mid-1990s as two-thirds of a power trio BBM with Irish blues-rock guitarist Gary Moore.

The most awarded artist in the history of the Billboard Music Awards with 33 wins, she is one an elite group of musical acts, such as Madonna, Aerosmith, Garth Brooks and Eric Clapton, whom Billboard credits for " redefining the landscape of popular music.

Harrison, who had invited Clapton to the sessions, soon reciprocated by collaborating with Clapton on the song " Badge " for Cream's last album Goodbye.
