Blandings Castle is a recurring fictional location in the stories of British comic writer P. G. Wodehouse, being the seat of Lord Emsworth ( Clarence Threepwood, 9th Earl of Emsworth ), home to many of his family, and setting for numerous tales and adventures, written between 1915 and 1975.

When Elizabeth's relatives, especially her brother, Anthony Woodville, 2nd Earl Rivers, began to challenge Warwick's pre-eminence in English political society, Warwick conspired with his son-in-law, the Duke of Clarence, the king's younger brother.

George Plantagenet, 1st Duke of Clarence, 1st Earl of Salisbury, 1st Earl of Warwick, KG ( 21 October 1449 – 18 February 1478 ) was the third son of Richard Plantagenet, 3rd Duke of York, and Cecily Neville, and the brother of kings Edward IV and Richard III.

When his father-in-law the Earl of Warwick became discontented and jealous, and deserted Edward to ally himself with Margaret of Anjou, consort of the deposed King Henry, Clarence joined him in France, taking his pregnant wife.

After the death of her son, Anne effectively adopted Richard's & her nephew, Edward, Earl of Warwick, the nine-year-old son of George of Clarence ( who was also the son of her own sister Isabel ).

Warwick landed in the West Country on 13 September 1470, accompanied by Clarence and some unswerving Lancastrian nobles, including the Earl of Oxford and Jasper Tudor, the Earl of Pembroke.

The best surviving male claimant of the York dynasty was the queen's first cousin, Edward, Earl of Warwick ( son of George, Duke of Clarence ).

In the same year, Edward IV and his brother the Duke of Gloucester were forced to flee England, when their brother the Duke of Clarence, and his father-in-law the Earl of Warwick, rebelled and drove the King into exile ; Charles was forced to intercede on the part of his brother-in-law, ordering the London merchants to swear loyalty to Edward under threat of losing their trading rights in Burgundy, a threat that proved successful.

Lady Margaret was born at Farleigh Hungerford Castle in Somerset, the only surviving daughter of the George Plantagenet, 1st Duke of Clarence, and the former Isabella Neville, elder daughter of Richard Neville, 16th Earl of Warwick, and Anne Beauchamp, his wife, who inherited the Earldom of Warwick.

At that time, her father was then created Earl of Salisbury and of Warwick ; he was already Duke of Clarence.

Edward Plantagenet, 17th Earl of Warwick ( 25 February 1475 – 28 November 1499 ) was the son of George Plantagenet, 1st Duke of Clarence, and a potential claimant to the English throne during the reigns of both Richard III ( 1483 – 1485 ) and his successor, Henry VII ( 1485 – 1509 ).

He was born on 25 February 1475, at Warwick, the family home of his mother, the Duchess of Clarence, formerly Lady Isabella Neville, elder daughter of Richard Neville, 16th Earl of Warwick.
