* Muzio Clementi – The publication of Gradus ad Parnassum Volume II is entered at Stationer ’ s Hall, London on April 16.

Of the vast number of études from that era some are still used as teaching material ( particularly pieces by Carl Czerny and Muzio Clementi ), and a few, by major composers such as Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt and Claude Debussy, achieved a place in today's concert repertory.

Clementi's arterial road, Clementi Road, runs for some 5 kilometres, from the vicinity around Bukit Timah, at Jalan Anak Bukit, to the West Coast Highway, but the geographical entity of Clementi is generally regarded as the area dominated by HDBflats around Commonwealth Avenue West and the Clementi MRT Station.

However, some parts of Clementi are not part of this GRC but of the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC.

Clementi is serviced by several educational facilities, some of which have a long history.

In addition to the piano solo repertoire, Clementi wrote a great deal of other music, including several recently pieced together, long worked on but slightly unfinished symphonies that are gradually becoming accepted by the musical establishment as being very fine works.

The critical edition of the complete works of Clementi, published by Ut Orpheus Edizioni of Bologna, will consist of 15 volumes: the first two will contain vocal and orchestral music respectively, five volumes will be devoted to the chamber music, two volumes to the keyboard works, and two volumes to the didactic works.

He has composed many original works, including cadenzas to all piano concerti by Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven and second piano parts to be played alongside original compositions by Muzio Clementi and Daniel Steibelt.

Among the items of Jane Austen's furniture on display in Chawton Cottage are a Clementi pianoforte ( about 1810 ) and a Hepplewhite bureau-bookcase containing several of her works.

Along with Clementi, Dussek may have been a source of stylistic inspiration and influence for Beethoven, whose expansion upon the idiomatic innovations of the London school led to their rapid penumbration with the appearance of Beethoven's own keyboard works.

The Russian capital impressed Field so much that he eventually decided to stay behind when Clementi left, and from about 1804 was particularly active in Russia.

By late 1793, though, the Fields had settled in London, where the young pianist started studying with Muzio Clementi.

Clementi also had offices at 195 Tottenham Court Road from 1806.

The best known composers from this period are Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Ludwig van Beethoven ; other notable names include Luigi Boccherini, Muzio Clementi, Antonio Soler, Antonio Salieri, François Joseph Gossec, Johann Stamitz, Carl Friedrich Abel, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, and Christoph Willibald Gluck.

Beethoven used to say ...' They who thoroughly study Clementi, at the same time make themselves acquainted with Mozart and other composers ; but the converse is not the fact.

His first published compositions were issued by Clementi in 1795 ; the first historically important work, Piano Concerto No. 1 H 27, was premiered by the composer in London on 7 February 1799.

Ngee Ann Polytechnic ( Abbreviation: NP ; Chinese: 义安理工学院 ; ), is the second polytechnic established in Clementi, Singapore, founded in 1963 as Ngee Ann College with 116 students.

Between 1979 and 1980, the School Board negotiated with the Ministry of Education until it was agreed and approved by all the sponsors that in order to improve the school, all properties of Pei Tong Public School would be handed over to the Ministry of Education as from 1981 ; the new government primary school to be built on Avenue 5 Clementi New Town be named Pei Tong Primary School ; all the teaching and non-teaching staff and pupils be transferred to the new school ; and members of the School Board join as members of the School Advisory Committee.

Influenced by Domenico Scarlatti's harpsichord school and Haydn's classical school and by the stile galante of Johann Christian Bach and Ignazio Cirri, Clementi developed a fluent, technical legato style which he passed on to an entire generation of pianists, including John Field, Johann Baptist Cramer, Ignaz Moscheles, Giacomo Meyerbeer, Friedrich Kalkbrenner, Johann Nepomuk Hummel and Carl Czerny.

The Fields soon moved to London, where Field studied under Muzio Clementi.

Field continued his studies with Clementi, also helping the Italian with the making and selling of instruments.

In summer 1802 Field and Clementi left London and went to Paris on business.

Clementi left in June 1803, but not before securing Field a teaching post in Narva and " appointing " the young man as his deputy, so that Field would receive similarly high fees.

In March 1832 his former teacher and friend Clementi died, and Field acted as pallbearer at his funeral.

Dussek was one of a number of foreign-born composers, including Muzio Clementi and John Field, who contributed significantly to the development of a distinct " London " school of pianoforte composition.
