A trio of students in detention — Conner McKnight, Ethan James, and Kira Ford — unravel Tommy's past as a Power Ranger after uncovering three artifacts from his lab that turn them into the Dino Thunder Power Rangers.

When he is assigned three detention students, Conner, Ethan, and Kira, they end up finding the Dino Gems, paving the way for them to become the Dino Rangers.

Conner gains the power of the Tyrannozord ( based on the Tyrannosaurus ), as well as super-speed ; Ethan gains the power of the Tricerazord ( based on the Triceratops ), as well as the ability to make his skin invulnerable ; and Kira gains the power of the Pterazord ( based on the Pteranodon ), as well as a sonic scream.

; Dino Thunder Power Rangers: The Dino Rangers first meet with their successors when Broodwing uses the Red, Blue and Yellow Dino Gems to transport Conner, Ethan and Kira from their high-school reunion to 2020 in the hopes of gaining their aid in destroying the planet.

Conner finds the Red Dino gem when he, Kira Ford, and Ethan James are in detention.

After that, Kira is kidnapped by Mesogog, which forces Conner and Ethan to tell Tommy that they had taken the Dino Gems.

Kira escapes from Mesogog's lab and meets up with Conner, Ethan, and Tommy.

Tommy then gives the Red Dino Morpher to Conner, while he gives the yellow and blue morphers to Kira and Ethan.

While serving detention with Conner McKnight and Kira Ford under the new science teacher, Dr. Thomas Oliver, Ethan finds a Dino Gem and gains superhuman powers, including superhuman strength and the ability to make his skin impenetrable.

Trent has defeated Kira and is on the verge of killing her, when Ethan and Conner go into Super Dino Mode and defeat him.

" He infects Conner and Ethan with his flower blasts causing an allergic reaction.

Tommy then suggested to Conner and Ethan that they had to sacrifice the zords.
