Robert Monsey Rolfe, 1st Baron Cranworth PC ( 18 December 1790 – 26 July 1868 ) was a British lawyer and Liberal politician.
Born at Cranworth, Norfolk, he was the elder son of the Reverend Edward Rolfe.
Cranworth represented Penryn and Falmouth in Parliament from 1832 until he was appointed a Baron of the Exchequer in 1839.
In 1850 he was appointed a Vice-Chancellor and raised to the peerage as Baron Cranworth, of Cranworth in the County of Norfolk.
Owing to the reception by parliament of reports of committees nominated to consider the circumstances of certain appointments in the Leeds Bankruptcy Court, as well as the granting a pension to a Mr Leonard Edmunds, a clerk in the patent office, and a clerk of the parliaments, the lord chancellor felt it incumbent upon him to resign his office, which he accordingly did on 5 July 1865, and was succeeded by Robert Rolfe, 1st Baron Cranworth.
The first creation came in 1850 when the lawyer and Liberal politician Sir Robert Rolfe was made Baron Cranworth, of Cranworth in the County of Norfolk.
The second creation came in 1899 when Robert Gurdon was created Baron Cranworth, of Letton and Cranworth in the County of Norfolk.
