* Crozet Park is a recreational facility where various sports organizations local to Albemarle County come to play and practice throughout the year.

Each year, Crozet holds an Independence Day celebration, which consists of a parade through the downtown area, a carnival in Crozet Park lasting for several days, and a sizeable fireworks show to bring the festivities to a close.

Kerguelen Islands ( France ; also an EU Overseas territory ) are situated in the Antarctic Convergence area, while the Falkland Islands, Isla de los Estados, Hornos Island with Cape Horn, Diego Ramírez Islands, Campbell Island, Macquarie Island, Amsterdam and Saint Paul Islands, Crozet Islands, Prince Edward Islands, and Gough Island and Tristan da Cunha group remain north of the Convergence and thus outside the Antarctic region.

Crozet is also home to a branch of the Jefferson Madison Regional Library System.

Recently, however, it has seen an increasing rate of housing development, likely because of nearby Charlottesville's reputation as a desirable location, but also because there is a significant amount of undeveloped land near downtown Crozet.

Crozet is also in the early stages of creating a mall from an old lumber yard just behind the Crozet Library.

They also occupy much of Antarctica and the Antarctic Peninsula, including the northern South Shetland Islands, Bouvet Island, the Prince Edward and Marion islands, the Crozet Islands, the Kerguelen Islands, the Heard and McDonald Islands.

In steeply banked beaches off Península Valdés, Argentina, and the Crozet Islands, killer whales feed on South American sea lions and southern elephant seals in shallow water, even beaching temporarily to grab prey before wriggling back to the sea.

The Kerguelen Islands, along with the islands of Amsterdam and St. Paul, and the Crozet archipelago were officially annexed by France in 1893, and were included as possessions in the French constitution in 1924 ( in addition to that portion of Antarctica claimed by France and known as Adélie Land ; as with all Antarctic territorial claims, France's possession on the continent is held in abeyance until a new international treaty is ratified that defines each claimant's rights and obligations ).

Crozet Elementary School ( the newer building ) is located in rural Crozet on Crozet Avenue, across the street from the original Crozet Elementary building.

One such establishment is Crozet Pizza, whose interior walls are lined with photographs of the owners ' forebears, as well as with business cards stapled on as mementos by travelers from as near as the University of Virginia or as far away as other countries.

These numbers have alarmed some long-time residents who are accustomed to the rural tranquility of Crozet, and over a thousand people have petitioned the county to cut down on the number of planned households.

The gibsoni subspecies nests on the Crozet Islands and Marion Island.

The species grows on the Heard Island and McDonald, Crozet, Prince Edward and Kerguelen Islands.

E. c. filholi breeds on the Prince Edward Islands, the Crozet Islands, the Kerguelen Islands, Heard Island, Macquarie Island, Campbell Island, the Auckland Islands and the Antipodes Islands.

Their first stop was the Crozet Islands where they set down on Possession Island to deliver coffee to sealers.

* A. p. halli breeds on the Kerguelen, Crozet, Prince Edward, Heard, and Macquarie Islands.

The largest breeding populations are on Crozet Island, with around 455, 000 pairs, 228, 000 pairs on the Prince Edward Islands, 240, 000 – 280, 000 on the Kerguelen Islands and over 100, 000 on the South Georgia Islands.

Calls recorded at colonies on South Georgia have a more rapid rhythm and lower pitch than those on Kerguelen and Crozet Islands.

* October 30 – The Piedmont Airlines Douglas DC-3 Buckeye Pacemaker, operating as Flight 349, crashes on Bucks Elbow Mountain near Crozet, Virginia, killing 26 of the 27 people on board and seriously injuring the sole survivor, a passenger who is found near the wreckage still strapped into his seat.

Crozet studied bridge building, and graduated from the Imperial Artillery School as a second lieutenant on June 9, 1809.

Fish-eating killer whales in Alaska and Norway have resident-like social structures, while mammal-eating killer whales in Argentina and the Crozet Islands behave more like transients.
