He was also a consistent collector and supporter of the works of the avant-garde artists Mark Gertler, Duncan Grant, David Bomberg and Paul Nash, all of whom were also associated with the Bloomsbury Group.

The influence of these paintings on successive generations of British artists has been noted in the works of Freud, David Bomberg, Francis Bacon, Frank Auerbach, Howard Hodgkin, and Leon Kossoff.

Yet, perhaps the clearest influence on his art training came from a series of additional art classes he took at London's Borough Polytechnic, where he and fellow St Martin's student Leon Kossoff were taught by David Bomberg from 1947 until 1953.

From 1945 to 1954, British painter David Bomberg taught art at the Polytechnic forming the ' Borough Group ' of artists with his pupils.

David Bomberg House is a hall of residence at 282 – 302 Borough High Street for London South Bank University students.

The building is named after the English painter David Bomberg ( 1890 – 1957 ), who was a teacher at London South Bank University when it was known as Borough Polytechnic.

David Bomberg is considered to be London South Bank University's most famous teacher.

His contemporaries at the Slade included Dora Carrington, Mark Gertler, Paul Nash, Edward Wadsworth, Isaac Rosenberg and David Bomberg.

" Allied with him were David Bomberg, William Roberts and other young contemporaries at the Slade.

He championed the art of Jacob Epstein and David Bomberg, and was a friend of Gaudier-Brzeska, as well as being in at the birth of Lewis's literary magazine BLAST and vorticism.

His contemporaries included a number of brilliant young students, among them Dora Carrington, Mark Gertler, Paul Nash, Christopher Nevinson, Stanley Spencer and David Bomberg.

He is also an artist, having studied at the Borough Polytechnic ( later London South Bank University ) under David Bomberg and as a member of the Borough Group.

Other " Whitechapel Boys " were the painters David Bomberg and Mark Gertler ; they all met together at or near the Whitechapel Art Gallery.

Studying at the Slade School of Fine Art between 1910 and 1912 with Isaac Rosenberg and David Bomberg, she soon became the only female member of their ' Whitechapel Boys ' circle of artists and poets, and was the only female exhibitor at the 1914 post-Impressionist exhibition " Twentieth Century Art: A Review of Modern Movements " at the Whitechapel Art Gallery in which this circle played a major part.

He himself retrospectively coined the name, to include also the artists David Bomberg and Mark Gertler.

She came to prominence in the early 1950s with the novelty hit " Come On-a My House " written by William Saroyan and his cousin Ross Bagdasarian ( better known as David Seville, the father figure of Alvin and the Chipmunks ), which was followed by other pop numbers such as " Botch-a-Me " ( a cover version of the Italian song Ba-Ba-Baciami Piccina by Alberto Rabagliati ), " Mambo Italiano ", " Tenderly ", " Half as Much ", " Hey There " and " This Ole House ", although she had success as a jazz vocalist.

In 1973 Booker recorded The Lost Paramount Tapes at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, California with members of the Dr. John band which included John Boudreaux on drums, Jessie Hill on percussion, Alvin Robinson on guitar and vocals, Richard " Didymus " Washington on percussion, David Lastie on sax and Dave Johnson on bass.
