At this time Deer Lodge County ( today Deer Lodge, Granite, Silver Bow, and Powell Counties ) was cut out of Missoula.

Outside of Lake Arrowhead Village there are several residential communities, which include Cedar Glen, Blue Jay, Rimforest, Skyforest, Crest Park, Deer Lodge Park, and Agua Fria.

Deer Lodge ( Ktunaxa: ¢ upqa ʔa · kitǂaʔis ) is a city in and the county seat of Powell County, Montana, United States.

Deer Lodge is also the location of Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site, dedicated to the interpretation of the frontier cattle ranching era.

The Grant-Kohrs ranch was built in 1862 by Johnny Grant, a Scottish / French / Metis fur-trader and trapper who encouraged his people to settle in Deer Lodge because of its pleasant climate and large areas of bunch grass prairie, ideal for raising cattle and horses.

The city's name derives from a geological formation known as Warm Springs Mound which contained natural saline that made for a natural salt lick for the local deer population, the protected valley in which Deer Lodge is located was where most of the local wildlife would winter as the temperatures lowered in the high country.

Deer Lodge was the site of the College of Montana, the first institution of higher learning in the state.

Timothy Palmer, who invented and later patented the arch type of construction for wooden bridges, was the genius who planned and supervised the building of the Essex, or `` Deer Island '' bridge although the actual work was carried out under the direction of William Coombs, who received $300 as recompense.

Between the abutments on the Newbury shore and the south bank of Deer Island there was one span or arch measuring 160 feet ; ;

between the north shore of Deer Island and the Salisbury side there was an arch of 113 feet and a series of piers with a draw forty feet long.

The Sheriff of Nottingham also had jurisdiction in Derbyshire that was known as the " Shire of the Deer ", and this is where the Royal Forest of the Peak is found, which roughly corresponds to today's Peak District National Park.

The first known settlers on the " West Lyman " portion of Lyman were John Hyndman ( also, " John Hinman "), with his wife and son, who settled on the largest of the Deer Islands ( below the present-day Barnet Bridge ) in 1784 and built a log cabin.

The parents, supported by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, also asked Dr. Wheaton to order the 2, 295 students in the Wyandanch schools ( 86 per cent of whom were African-American ) to be divided equally into the more affluent and predominantly white surrounding Half Hollow Hills, Deer Park, North Babylon, West Babylon and Farmingdale school districts.

White Deer Hole Creek and its tributaries also have stands of hemlock and thickets of rhododendron along them.

Deer have also become plentiful in recent decades, as have feral pigs.

Deer and other herbivorous mammals will eat the foliage, as will some invertebrates such as Lepidoptera ( butterflies and moths ), which also often drink nectar from the flowers.

Deer and elk are a common sight, and wolves have also been observed in the district along the border with Sweden.
