Polish Deputies were members of the Austrian State Council ( from 1867 ), and from 1906 were also elected to the Russian Imperial State Duma ( lower chamber ) and to the State Council ( upper chamber ).

Poles in Romania form an officially recognised national minority, having one seat in the Chamber of Deputies of Romania ( currently held by Ghervazen Longher ) and access to Polish elementary schools and cultural centres ( known as " Polish Houses ").

The Bolsheviks played a relatively minor role in the 1905 Revolution, and were a minority in the St. Petersburg Soviet of Workers ' Deputies led by Trotsky.
