The band formed from the remaining members of the Epileptics ( who later changed their name to Epi-X due to letters of complaint from The British Epilepsy Association ) by Colin Latter ( vocals ) and Derek Birkett ( bass guitar ) with guitarists Andy Smith, Neil Puncher, and drummer Sid Ation ( who was also a member of Rubella Ballet ).

It was set up in 1985 by members of various anarchist punk bands, and managed by ex-Flux of Pink Indians Derek Birkett.

When The Sugarcubes achieved an agreement with One Little Indian Records, a new record company created by Derek Birkett, their incomes increased with the release of Birthday, the first single published in England, which was chosen as single of the week by Melody Maker.

The group limped along a while longer, eventually reduced to Kramer and Smith touring and playing with Ritchie Dharma on drums and Derek Hughes on bass, playing R & B covers as much as their original material.

The third single, " Jump into the Fire ", was raucous, screaming rock and roll, including a drum solo by Derek and the Dominos ' Jim Gordon and a bass detuning by Herbie Flowers.

He was replaced by Derek Gibbs who played bass in Jeffries Fan Club and Aaron Barrett's now defunct side project, The Forces Of Evil.

Significant former members include bass guitarist Derek Forbes and keyboard player Michael MacNeil ( the latter credited as a significant band composer during the band's rise in the 1980s ).

Mullen and Hobbs reformed in 2003 with Smith, Marchais and Derek Boyer of the bands Dying Fetus and Decrepit Birth on bass.

The second performance featured the aforementioned players together with Derek on bass, Greg improvising on trumpet and sans girlfriends.

It includes the four members of the band Wonderful: Jason Holstrom ( guitar ), Jon e. Rock ( drums, vocals ), Peter Sali ( guitar, vocals ), and Noah Star Weaver ( keyboards, vocoder ), as well as Derek Chan ( bass guitar ), Carly Nicklaus ( backup vocals ), and Amanda Khanjian ( backup vocals ).
