The original group broke up in 1985 but vocalist Dinah Cancer subsequently revived the band.

The original lineup consisted of Dinah Cancer on vocals, Paul Cutler ( formerly of The Consumers ) on guitar, Rob Ritter ( also known as Rob Graves of The Bags ) on bass, and Don Bolles ( of The Germs ) on drums.

In 2004, 45 Grave reformed to commemorate their 25th anniversary, with Dinah Cancer being the single remaining member from previous incarnations.

Dinah Cancer posted on her MySpace blog, " I'm building this to keep the spirit of 45 Grave alive, introduce its magic to new fans, and as a personal commemorative of my best memories being the driving force and front person of 45 Grave.

During this time Dinah Cancer of 45 Grave was a frequent guest performer with them, and they played shows with bands such as Christian Death, Super Heroines, Kommunity FK and Gobsheit ( a side project of Stapleton's with Patrice Repose ) at venues such as the Anti Club.

Dinah Cancer ( born August 28, 1960 ) is the stage name of Mary Simms.

Eventually, Cancer joined the band named Penis Flytrap, who released an album before she and drummer Hal Satan left that group to form Dinah Cancer and the Grave Robbers.

Dinah Cancer and the Grave Robbers are a renewed version of classic deathrock band, 45 Grave.

After 45 Grave disbanded, frontwoman Dinah Cancer and bandmember Lisa Pifer formed " Dinah Cancer and the Grave Robbers ", continuing in the style of 45 Grave.

Rob Ritter also joined The Gun Club, and appears on their first LP Fire Of Love, but left to change his name to Rob Graves and form the seminal death rock band 45 Grave, with Dinah Cancer, Don Bolles, previously of The Germs and Nervous Gender, Paul Roessler of The Screamers and Nervous Gender and Paul Cutler.

Alice Bag went on to join Castration Squad, which included Phranc and Dinah Cancer among its many members.

From 2004-2009, Lisa played with Dinah Cancer & the Grave Robbers which has morphed into the return of 45 Grave with guitar legend Rikk Agnew of Christian Death on guitar.
